Make this chili dogs recipe for an outdoor barbecue party or a sports game night in. Pop the hot dogs on the grill and top them with some hearty beef chili.

1 lb ground beef
2½ cups ketchup
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp prepared yellow mustard
1 tsp chili powder
5½ oz chopped yellow onions
2 chopped garlic cloves
4 roughly ½ lb total all-beef hot dogs
4 hot dog rolls
to taste salt and ground black pepper
for simmering water
chopped yellow onions
pickle relish

Steps:

Heat up oil in a saute pan on medium heat. Add chopped onions and garlic and saute until translucent.
Stir in the ground beef, cooking for about 10 more minutes or until evenly caramelized.
Stir in the ketchup, chili powder, and mustard. Simmer for 15 minutes or until the mixture is thickened.
While waiting, bring water in a pot to a simmer. Add your hot dogs and simmer for 5 to 8 minutes or until fully heated through. Drain and set aside.
Season your chili with salt and pepper and adjust accordingly.
Place hot dogs in the buns, then spoon chili on top.
Sprinkle with roughly 2 tablespoons of onions and pickle relish each per sandwich. Serve!

1 pound ground chuck meat
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
23 ounces tomato juice
1/2 cup chile sauce (I use the Heinz brand)
1 tablespoon chili powder
1-2 tablespoon brown sugar
Sprinkle corn meal (optional)
2 tablespoons BBQ sauce (optional)

Steps:

In a large skillet, cook (scramble) the ground chuck and onions together. Drain the grease off. Add the tomato juice, chile sauce, chili powder and brown sugar (and optional BBQ sauce if you want it) to the cooked meat in the skillet. Simmer the chili until it is as thick as you want it. You may add the sprinkle of corn meal to help thicken up the chili if desired. Spoon over your hot dogs and remember the days of sitting at DQ enjoying a meal. ** You may also cook the beef and onions on the stove top and when you want to add the other ingredients add it all to a crock pot and let it cook 1-2 hours.

1 pound ground beef
⅓ cup water
½ (10 ounce) can tomato sauce
½ cup ketchup
2 ½ teaspoons chili powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon white sugar
½ teaspoon onion powder
1 dash Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

Place ground beef in a large saucepan with water and mash the beef with a potato masher to break apart. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, chili powder, salt, black pepper, sugar, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat until the chili has thickened slightly and the beef is fully cooked, about 20 minutes.

brown ground meat and onion add remaining ingredients simmer until your preferred thickness. you can add the corn meal to thicken a little if you like.

Put all ingredients in a small sauce pan,stir well.Bring to a slow boil,I usually set burner at med.low.Cook at least one hour,I cook mine for two hours usually.
A note about the meat,if you use plain hamburger it will be a greasy chili,which I prefer, if you don't,use ground chuck, or ground round.
