A wintery cocktail combining cranberry juice, ginger, lime and vodka. Can also be served as a cranberry ginger martini.

8 oz vodka ({1 shot})
8 oz cranberry juice ({1 shot})
4 oz Ginger Simple Syrup ({Recipe follows})
4 teaspoon lime juice
club soda ((to taste))
cranberries {for garnish}
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
4 inch ginger ({peeled and sliced into 1/4 inch rounds})
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

Steps:

In a small pot, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil. Stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Reduce heat, simmering gently for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
Can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
In a shaker filled with ice, combine the vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice and ginger simple syrup. Shake until well combined and chilled. Pour into a glass.
Top with club soda and garnish with cranberries.

This cranberry cocktail is an easy and tasty way to celebrate the holiday season. Just whip up a batch of the yummy cranberry syrup ahead of time and you are good to go.

6 oz cranberries
1 cup 8 oz cranberry juice
2/3 cup 5 oz granulated sugar
1/2 cup 4 oz orange juice
zest from one large orange
2 cinnamon sticks
4 cups 24 oz ginger ale
1 1/2 cups 12 oz vodka
ice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp cinnamon

Steps:

For the syrup: Puree the cranberries and the cranberry juice in a blender until finely chopped.
Combine cranberries with all other ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes.
Strain the syrup into a bowl using a fine mesh strainer, pressing on the solids to get all the liquid out.
Let the syrup cool to room temperature and use in drinks or cover tightly and put it in the fridge. The syrup can be stored for up to 5 days.
For the cocktail: Combine syrup, ginger ale, and vodka in a large pitcher and stir to combine.
Mix together cinnamon sugar in a small bowl. Spread some of it out onto a plate, adding more as needed while you work. Wet the rims of 8 glasses and then rub them in the cinnamon sugar to coat the rims. I used a piece of the orange that I had juiced for the syrup, but water works just as well.
Add ice to the glasses and pour about 6 1/2 oz of the cocktail into each glass.

4 -inch piece ginger, peeled and roughly chopped
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup frozen cranberries
1 lime, juiced
2 cups vodka or gin
2 cups cranberry juice
1 cup ginger syrup, or to taste
Splash club soda
Shaved ginger

Steps:

For the ginger syrup: Place all syrup ingredients in a saucepan and simmer until sugar dissolves and the ginger is infused in the syrup, about 20 minutes. Strain and allow to cool fully before use.
For the drink: Crush the frozen cranberries in a large glass pitcher. Add the lime juice and their juiced wedges to the pitcher. Pour in the vodka, cranberry juice, and ginger syrup. Put ice in low-ball glasses and fill glasses about 2/3 full. Top off with club soda and garnish with a shaving of fresh ginger.

1 cup ruby red grapefruit juice

Optional ingredients: orange slices and fresh or frozen cranberries

Steps:

In a pitcher, combine cranberry, orange and grapefruit juices and sugar. Refrigerate, covered, until chilled. Just before serving, stir in ginger ale. To serve, pour mixture over ice.
