This 3-ingredient cranberry relish has been a family favorite for generations! It's sweet and tangy and perfect paired with Thanksgiving turkey or even for topping on chicken or pork

12 ounces fresh cranberries
1 orange (, with the peel ON)
1 cup granulated sugar

Steps:

  • Slice the very edge root ends off of the orange, just until you see the flesh. Leave the rest of the skin ON the orange and slice it into 8 pieces.
  • Place the fresh cranberries, orange slices and sugar in your food processor and process until smooth (or until no large chunks remain).
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve (it tastes best after being in the fridge for at least on hour) or for up to 1 week. Serve over turkey, chicken, pork loin etc.

2 1/2 cups golden raisins
1 1/4 cups orange juice
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup white vinegar
1 (12 ounce) bag cranberries
2 teaspoons orange zest, minced
1 1/4 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Steps:

  • In large saucepan over medium heat, bring raisins, orange juice, sugar & vinegar to boil, stirring frequently.
  • Reduce heat & simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes.
  • Add cranberries, zest & ginger, & heat to boiling over high heat.
  • Reduce heat & simmer, uncovered, another 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat & stir in walnuts.
  • Cool, cover & refrigerate. Serve cold.

This Cranberry sauce is adopted from Paula Deen's recipe. It is simply delicious and we use it every time that we serve a turkey. It is also excellent in the summertime as a chutney.

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
16 ounces fresh cranberries
1 cup chopped apple (granny smith work great)
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 cup golden raisin
2 tablespoons Grand Marnier (this gives it an orangish flavor, you may substitute rum or bourbon if you wish)
1/4 cup orange juice (or juice of 1/2 orange)
1/2 lemon, juice of
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons nutmeg, freshly grated

Steps:

  • Mix sugar and water and bring to a boil.
  • Add the cranberries and return to a boil. Reduce heat until the mixture comes to a simmer.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and let cook for 10-15 minutes.
  • Let cool and serve as desired. Makes 8 half cup servings.

1 cup sugar
10 ounces pearl onions, blanched in boiling water for 3 minutes, drained, and peeled
1/2 cup golden raisins
a 1-pound bag of cranberries, picked over

Steps:

  • In a dry large deep heavy skillet cook the sugar over moderately high heat, stirring constantly with a fork, until it is melted completely and a deep golden caramel. Remove the skillet from the heat, into the side of the skillet carefully pour 1 cup hot water, a little at a time, and cook the mixture over moderate heat, stirring, until the caramel is dissolved. Add the onions, the raisins, and the cranberries and simmer the mixture, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes, or until the cranberries are tender. Remove the skillet from the heat, let the cranberry sauce mixture cool, and transfer it to a serving dish.

This is a delicious cranberry sauce (chutney) that I've made for Thanksgiving for years. It's best if it sets overnight, so it's easy to make ahead.

1 lb cranberries
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup golden raisin
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
1/2 teaspoon clove
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1 cup water
1 cup diced onion
1 cup peeled chopped tart apple
1/2 cup diced celery

Steps:

  • Combine first 9 ingredients in a medium saucepan and simmer uncovered over medium heat, stirring regularly until the juice is released from the cranberries (they will start popping). This usually takes about 15 minutes.
  • Stir in onion, apple, and celery. Simmer 15 minutes more.
  • Remove from heat. Cool. Refrigerate overnight.

1 cup water
¾ cup white sugar
1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries
1 cup apples - peeled, cored and diced
½ cup cider vinegar
½ cup raisins
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon ground allspice
⅛ teaspoon ground cloves

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan combine the water and sugar. Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat. Add the cranberries, apples, cider vinegar, raisins and spices. Bring to a boil, then simmer gently for 10 minutes stirring often.
  • Pour mixture into a mixing bowl. Place plastic wrap directly on the surface of the sauce. Cool to room temperature and serve or cover and refrigerate. Bring chutney to room temperature before serving.

  • If raisins are not soft, soak in warm water to cover for 5 to 10 minutes or until tender and pliable. Drain and coarsely chop by hand or in a food processor; transfer to a medium mixing bowl and set aside.
  • Pick over berries, removing any shriveled or discolored ones and rinse under cold water; drain. Coarsely chop in a food processor. Add cranberries and chopped shallots (or red onion) to raisins, stirring to combine. Set aside.
  • In a small saucepan, combine together the jelly, sugar, salt, ginger and cayenne pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until sugar and salt dissolve and mixture is smooth and quite hot (it doesn’t have to boil). Pour hot mixture over berry mixture, stirring until blended. Stir in lemon juice and mix well. Scrape into a jar, cover and refrigerate at least overnight before serving.
