These are very good. My mom used to make them for me after school quite often and now I do the same for my kids. Enjoy!

Steps:
- In a saucepan place sugar, cocoa and the milk and stir with a whisk . Take the butter and slice into this mixture over low heat until all is mixed and melted.
- Bring this to a rolling boil and boil for 2 l/2 minutes... I test it by taking a cup of cold water and putting a spoonful of the mixture into the cold water. If it forms a ball it has boiled long enough. If it does not form a ball, it is not done yet. This may take 3 minutes.
- Turn off heat and add the peanut butter. Stir until it is mixed and then with heavy spoon mix in the oats and stir all together and drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.

CRUNCHY PEANUT BARK
Cereal and peanuts add the crunch to these sweet and peanut-buttery treats you can whip up in no time. One batch makes plenty for snacking and sharing. At Christmas, my sister and I add them to trays of homemade candies we give to the customers of the house-cleaning service we run. We're often asked for the recipe.

- Melt the peanut butter and butter together. (You can do it over low heat on the stove or in the microwave. I do mine 2 minutes in the microwave) Mix together the powdered sugar and the rice krispies. Mix the sugar and krispies with the melted peanut butter and butter. I just use a wooden spoon to mix them together. Form into balls about 1 inch in size or whatever size you like.
- Cover a baking sheet with wax paper and place peanut butter balls on the sheet and chill in the refrigerator for about an hour. Melt the chocolate and shortening either on the stove or in the microwave. I do it in the microwave for about 2 1/2 minutes and stir well. Dip peanut butter balls into chocolate and place back on cookie sheet. Keep chilled until firm or about an hour. Makes 3 dozen depending on size you make them.
