Steps:
- Combine Kool-aid packet, granulated sugar, and cornstarch in a 1 quart sauce pan. Mix well.
- Add two cups cold water and bring to a boil over medium high heat. Stir constantly.
- As mixture is getting close to coming to a boil it will begin to slightly thicken.
- Once mixture is boiling, turn the heat down to medium or medium low and let it continue to boil (stirring constantly) for 1 minute.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool completely before adding fruit. If you do not plan to add fruit for a cake topping and want to eat it like pudding, pour danish dessert into prepared dishes and let cool.
- I prefer to let mine cool in the fridge before adding the fruit.
- Enjoy!

Easy and delicious cake to make, with a homemade whipped cream frosting and a strawberry glazed topping- so good! My friend Liz, shared this recipe with me after having this cake at her suprise birthday party this year. This was a recipe that I had to have. **Danish Dessert is found next to the Jell-O in baking section at the grocery store.

DANISH DREAM CAKE
This cake has been a favorite since 1965, when a girl won a baking competition in with her grandmother's secret family recipe.

Yield Serves 10-12

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Prepare a 9-inch springform or round cake pan, greased and lined with baking parchment.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, whisk the eggs, granulated sugar and vanilla sugar on a high speed for a few minutes, until white and light. Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, sift the flour and baking powder together.
- Carefully fold the flour into the egg mixture. Mix the milk with the melted butter in a jug/pitcher and carefully pour into the batter, folding it in until incorporated. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until almost done (try not to open the oven door for the first 20 minutes of the total baking time).
- To make the topping, put all the ingredients in a saucepan and gently melt together.
- Remove the cake from the oven and carefully spread the topping all over the cake. Return to the oven. Turn up the heat to 400°F and bake for a further 5 minutes.
- Leave cake to cool before eating, if you can (we are well aware it's hard to do that).

- Old-fashioned Danish Apple Cake. I know it’s called apple cake, but this recipe is actually more of a cold apple pie parfait. You will need layers of cold apple filling made by boiling chopped apples with water, vanilla, and sugar.
- Lagkage (Danish Layer Cake) One thing you’ll notice about our Scandinavian friends is that they love their cakes! But they don’t usually cover them with frosting.
- Kanelstang (Danish Cinnamon Twist) There’s not a country on the planet (probably) that doesn’t have some kind of cinnamon pastry they’re proud of. Just the smell of it as it bakes is enough to have me waiting in the kitchen.
- Aebleskiver (Danish Pancake Balls) Almost all European Christmas markets will have a stall dedicated to these little bites. They’ll have a large flat top full of holes to pour the batter into, making hundreds a day.
- Kransekage (Danish Almond Cake) One of my favorite holiday recipes, this takes a little time but is so worth it in the end. Made with just four ingredients, this almond tower is quite the show-stopper.
- Risengrød (Danish Rice Pudding) Usually reserved for the holidays, this creamy dish gets upgraded on Christmas Eve with extra vanilla, whipped cream, and almonds.
- Brunsviger (Danish Coffee Cake) This cake is essentially a sweet focaccia covered in caramel. Once you’ve made your brioche-like dough, it will need to rest before you put it into the baking dish.
- Almond Shortbread Cookies. Buttery, crisp, crumbly, and full of almond flavor, you’ll make these irresistible little cookies a lot once you taste them!
- Brunkager (Danish Christmas Cookies) Christmas is truly the season of cookies. I’ve already made each of the cookies on this list, and I’m always looking for more!
- Brombærsnitter (Danish Blackberry Cakes) These beautiful treats are buttery and full of tart blackberry jam. The “cake” is actually enriched shortbread that gets made up and rolled into thin sheets.
