HAWAIIAN EGG ROLLS
As an avid cook, I am constantly trying to come up with recipes for leftovers. This one gives a whole new twist to extra ham. My two children think these egg rolls are wonderful, and they freeze well. I thaw as many as needed and bake them. -Terri Wheeler, Vadnais Heights, Minnesota

Steps:
- Season pork with ginger and garlic powder and mix thoroughly. Heat mixture in a medium skillet, stirring, until pork is cooked through and no longer pink. Set aside.
- In another large skillet heat oil to about 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) or medium high heat. While oil is heating, combine flour and water in a bowl until they form a paste. In a separate bowl combine the cabbage, carrots and reserved pork mixture. Mix all together.
- Lay out one egg roll skin with a corner pointed toward you. Place about a 1/4 to 1/3 cup of the cabbage, carrot and pork mixture on egg roll paper and fold corner up over the mixture. Fold left and right corners toward the center and continue to roll. Brush a bit of the flour paste on the final corner to help seal the egg roll.
- Place egg rolls into heated oil and fry, turning occasionally, until golden brown. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels or rack. Put on serving plate and top with sesame seeds if desired.

Steps:
- Fry the ground beef with the salt and pepper and garlic powder until the meat is completely browned.
- Make sure to add a lot of the salt and pepper and garlic powder.
- This needs to have a strong flavor because you'll be frying it with other ingredients.
- Don't put so much in that you can't eat it, but you want to really taste it.
- Once you are done getting the flavor right, get a LARGE bowl and put the shredded cabbage and carrots in it and then add the ground beef on top.
- Mix together completely and let sit for about 15 minutes.
- I do that so the mixture will soften and I can roll them more easily.
- Check the mixture after it sits to make sure the flavor is still there and really stands out.
- If not, add more of the salt and pepper and garlic powder.
- It's really up to your taste buds, but this is what I've done and I get RAVE reviews.
- Heat up your oil for frying in a deep fryer.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for how much oil to add, but always make sure you don't fill it to the top so you don't get hurt.
- I usually only fill about half of the fryer.
- Crack an egg into a small bowl to make a wash for sealing the egg roll wraps.
- Take a wrap and put about 1-2 teaspoons of the meat mixture onto the wrap.
- Wrap the roll as shown on the package, remembering to seal with the egg wash.
- I try to wrap my rolls tightly, but I don't always do that so well.
- Once you are done wrapping, place the egg rolls carefully into the oil about 2-3 at a time.
- Cook them until they are blond in color.
- Don't let them get too dark.
- Take them out and let drain on paper towels.
- You're done! I serve mine with Grey Poupon for dipping. yummy!
- Others might enjoy soy sauce! These also freeze very well, that is of course, if you have any left! I make a bunch for myself and have them for lunch.
- Just pop them in the microwave for about 1 minute, and you're done.

Steps:
- Place one chicken breast between plastic wrap or freezer bags and bash it until it is nice and thin -- repeat with the other breast.
- Mix the pepper, five spice and crushed garlic.
- Sprinkle the mixture over both breasts.
- Roll up one slice of ham and place it on the chicken breast.
- Roll the chicken up firmly and fold the ends under.
- Whisk the egg and milk together.
- Coat the chicken with flour (easiest in a freezer bag) shake off the excess.
- Dip in the egg mixture -- shake of the excess. This step will stop the chicken from separating from the spring roll wrapper.
- Place the chicken "roll" diagonally across the spring roll wrapper. Brush some of the egg mixture on the ends of the wrapper.
- Roll the chicken, tucking the ends in as you roll.
- Deep fry in oil until golden brown and cooked through. Don't have the oil too hot -- otherwise the spring roll wrappers will brown before the chicken is cooked.
- Drain on paper towels and then cut on the diagonal.
- Serve on a bed of lettuce with dipping sauces.
- Serve with your favourite sauce.

- Place on egg roll wrapper: ham, cheese, and pickle. Fold egg roll wrapper according to instruction on package. Place in hot oil, and deep fry until the roll is brown to dark brown.
- The amount of ingredients all depends on how many “pickles” you actually want to make. I usually buy the package of egg roll wrappers and than buy enough ingredients to complete the egg roll package. I make these, as I want them. Also, it is easy to make them one or two at a time just for a single person serving.
