Dimpi S Garlic Dal Recipe

Ingredients:

  1. toor dal
  2. red lentil
  3. water
  4. tomatoes
  5. salt
  6. turmeric powder
  7. canola oil
  8. black mustard seeds
  9. cumin seed
  10. serrano pepper
  11. dried red chilies
  12. curry leaves
  13. garlic cloves
  14. cumin powder
  15. cilantro

Steps:

  1. rinse the lentils several times , then combine the first 6 ingredients and pressure cook until soft
  2. in a saucepan , heat oil
  3. add mustard seeds
  4. when mustard crackles , add cumin seeds and red chillies
  5. stir for a few seconds
  6. now add serrano pepper , curry leaves and garlic
  7. stir until garlic is barely colored
  8. now add the cooked lentil mixture , water if needed and bring to a boil
  9. when dal is boiling , add cumin and salt to taste
  10. lower heat , cover and simmer for a few minutes
  11. take off heat , add cilantro and mix well
  12. serve hot with rice or chapati
