FRIED EGG DONUT BREAKFAST SANDWICH



Fried Egg Donut Breakfast Sandwich image

A glazed donut with an egg fried in the middle of it. Oh and bacon and melty cheese, too. You're welcome.

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 strips uncooked bacon
1 glazed doughnut
1 egg
1 slice American cheese

Steps:

  • Place bacon on a plate; cover with a paper towel. Microwave 2 to 3 minutes or until crisp; drain.
  • Heat a medium skillet over medium heat. Drizzle a little vegetable or olive oil into the hot pan.
  • Slice donut in half; use a cookie or biscuit cutter to cut a larger hole in the center of the top half. Place both donut halves, cut side down, in hot skillet.
  • Crack an egg in the center of the larger donut hole (the top half). Cover immediately and let cook until the egg is set and white on the top, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Flip bottom donut half upright and place on a serving plate. Top with cheese slice and bacon. Top with remaining donut half/fried egg. Serve immediately.

6 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 to 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
1 to 2 teaspoons anchovy paste
1 baguette, cut into 4 pieces, each halved lengthwise
4 large eggs
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
1/4 pound country pate or ham, cut into 4 slices
2 ounces gruyere or comte cheese, thinly sliced
1 cup frisee or other greens
Finely sliced chives, for garnish

Steps:

  • Preheat the broiler to high. Mix 4 tablespoons butter with the mustard and anchovy paste in a small bowl until smooth.
  • Spread the anchovy butter on the cut sides of the bread; place buttered-side up on a baking sheet and broil until toasted, 1 to 2 minutes. Set aside.
  • Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Crack in the eggs; season with salt and pepper and let cook until the yolks just begin to firm up and the edges are slightly crisp, about 3 minutes.
  • Assemble the sandwiches: Place 2 bread halves on each of 4 plates; top with a slice of pate, an egg, some cheese, greens and chives.

Tom's Scrambled Egg Sandwich image

My dad came up with this recipe years ago. Over the years, everyone I have shared this with always reacts the same way. First, they tell me 'that sounds awful!' After they eat it their story changes to 'that was amazing!' I know the idea of mayo and mustard on a scrambled egg disk sounds odd, but trust me; you'll love it. I know the cooking method for the eggs may be sacrilege for some folks; I just ask that you try it before changing it up.

2 eggs, beaten
1 tablespoon milk
1 pinch salt
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 slices bread, toasted
1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard

Steps:

  • Beat eggs, milk, and salt together in a bowl.
  • Heat a small nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook eggs in hot skillet without stirring until set on the bottom, about 1 1/2 minutes. Flip eggs and cook without stirring until set on the other side, about 1 minute more. Remove from heat.
  • Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on each piece of toast. Spread mustard over mayonnaise onto each piece of toast. Place eggs on one piece of toast and top with remaining toast.
