You only need three ingredients to make these super simple acorn cookies! -Jane Stasik, Greendale, Wisconsin

1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
48 milk chocolate kisses
48 Nutter Butter Bites

Steps:

  • Reserve 48 chocolate chips. In a microwave, melt remaining chocolate chips; stir until smooth. Spread the flat side of each kiss with a small amount of melted chocolate; immediately attach each to a cookie., Secure one reserved chocolate chip as a stem onto each acorn. Place on waxed or parchment-lined baking sheets; let stand until set. Store in an airtight container.

A friend posted this recipe today on my FB page (I think from Allrecipes). Just had to make them. I took a picture of them and wanted to it put on someone's recipe for it and lo.......no recipe....so here it is!!! ENJOY!!! Happy Thanksgiving too!!!

Steps:

  • 1. Unwrap chocolate kisses.
  • 2. Use frosting as "the glue" to attach kisses to flat side of the vanilla wafer.
  • 3. Again, use frosting to attach 1 small butterscotch chip on the top.
  • 4. Done!

This has evolved as my mum's favourite method and we ALWAYS want more than is cooked! Freshly ground black pepper is a must; fresh herbs are lovely when available. ;-)

1 acorn squash
2 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons dark brown sugar
1 pinch fresh ground black pepper
1 pinch freshly ground sea salt
thyme (optional)
nutmeg (optional)
cinnamon (optional)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400 Cut acorn squash in half.
  • Scoop out seeds using an ice cream scoop, sharp spoon, or melon baller.
  • Spread butter on cut edges and insides of each half.
  • Place halves on baking sheet (lined with foil, if you wish).
  • Sprinkle sugar inside each half.
  • Scatter in each small amount of salt, greater amt.of pepper and desired herbs.
  • Bake for one hour.
  • (Freshly grated nutmeg and a pinch of cinnamon is nice. Thyme is nice with nutmeg or by itself.).

Cute little treats all on their own or a fun decoration for your cupcakes! Enjoy as is or use to decorate cupcakes. If you are good at piping try adding some colored leaves made of frosting to the top of the Nilla® Wafer.

24 milk chocolate candy kisses (such as Hershey's Kisses®), unwrapped
24 mini vanilla wafer cookies (such as Nilla®)
24 butterscotch chips

Steps:

  • Smear a small amount of frosting onto the flat bottom of a candy kiss. Press onto the flat bottom of the vanilla wafer. Smear a little more frosting onto the flat bottom of a butterscotch chip, and press onto the rounded top of the cookie. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Set aside to dry, about 30 minutes.
