This appetizer looks fancy with its golden-brown flakiness, but all you need to do to make it is bake a bar of cream cheese in a frozen puff pastry.

1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese
2 tsp. CLASSICO Traditional Basil Pesto Sauce and Spread
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400ºF.
  • Cut cream cheese horizontally in half. Place one of the cream cheese pieces in center of pastry sheet; cover with pesto. Top with remaining cream cheese piece.
  • Gently fold pastry around cheese to completely enclose cheese, trimming excess pastry if necessary. Press edges of pastry to seal. Place, seam-side down, on baking sheet.
  • Bake 20 min. or until golden brown. Let stand 5 min.

1 package (2 sheets) frozen puff pastry, defrosted (recommended: Pepperidge Farm)
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1/4 pound black forest ham, sliced
1/2 pound Swiss Gruyere cheese, sliced
1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water, for egg wash

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Place a piece of parchment paper on a sheet pan.
  • Lay 1 sheet of puff pastry on a floured board and carefully roll it out to 10 by 12 inches. Place it on a sheet pan and brush the center with the mustard, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge. Place a layer first of ham and then cheese, also leaving a 1-inch border. Brush the border with the egg wash.
  • Place the second sheet of puff pastry on the floured board and roll it out to 10 by 12inches. Place the second sheet on top of the filled pastry, lining up the edges. Cut the edges straight with a small, sharp knife and press together lightly. Brush the top with egg wash and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until puffed and golden brown. Allow to cool for a few minutes and serve hot or warm.

½ (17.5 ounce) package frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 (8 ounce) wheel Brie cheese
¼ cup sliced almonds

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degree C). Lightly grease a 9 inch pie pan.
  • Slice the wheel of Brie in half, horizontally, so that the halves are two, flatter wheels of Brie. Lay the puff pastry in the pie pan. Place half of the Brie (rind-side down) onto the pastry dough. Sprinkle almonds evenly over the top. Place the other half of the Brie (rind-side up) over the almonds. Bundle the pastry dough around the Brie.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

This recipe comes from Paula's Party. I was watching her show the other night and saw her son Jamie make these. They looked so good that I wanted to share the recipe with everyone :) NOTE: I narrowed down the onions for our taste but original calls for 1/2 cup diced onions.

1 lb lean ground beef
1/4 cup white onion, diced
1 tablespoon steak seasoning (Montreal is recommended)
1 tablespoon A.1. Original Sauce (or whatever you use)
5 slices of american cheddar cheese (or whatever you like)
1 sheet frozen puff pastry
1 egg yolk (for a egg wash)
1 teaspoon water
flour
olive oil (if frying in pan)
ketchup
mustard

Steps:

  • Take out frozen puff pastry and let sit at room temperature for 30 to 40 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Mix hamburger, diced onion,steak seasoning, steak sauce together until well blended.
  • Make into 5 patties
  • Grill or fry in frying pan using a little olive oil until burgers are medium well done.
  • On a flat surface place a little flour out and place the puff pastry sheet on top and slightly roll to flatten lightly.
  • Cut into 5 rectangles evenly, if possible.
  • Again roll each rectangle out to fix one burger on.
  • Place burgers on each rectangle and add a slice of cheese.
  • Cover burgers by bringing ends together to cover the burger completely.
  • Place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  • Whisk together egg yolk and water.
  • Brush over the covered burgers.
  • Place in preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • For a Garnish: squeeze a little ketchup zig zagging over the burgers and squeeze a little mustard the opposite way. Enjoy!

1 (170 gram) package Du Village Lady Laurier d'Arthabaska cheese
2 tablespoons apricot jam
2 tablespoons fresh apricots, chopped
½ teaspoon fresh rosemary leaves, chopped
1 sheet frozen commercial puff pastry
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon cold water

Steps:

  • Place the cheese in the freezer for 1 hour. With a sharp knife, remove the top rind and place the cheese in the refrigerator.
  • In a bowl, combine the jam, apricots and rosemary. Set aside.
  • Roll out the dough into a 22 cm (9 in.) square. Place the whole cheese in the middle of the square, rindless side up. Spoon the apricot mixture over the top of the cheese.
  • Beat the egg yolk with the cold water and brush the edges of the dough with the mixture. Bring two opposite corners of the dough up over the cheese and seal together well. Repeat with the other corners. Turn the cheese over and place on a parchment-lined plate (sealed edges down). Refrigerate for 2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C. (400 degrees F.).
  • Turn the cheese over (sealed edges up) and transfer to a 15 cm (6 in) round baking dish. Brush with the egg yolk mixture.
  • Bake in the middle of the oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until the crust is nicely browned. Remove from oven and let rest 30 minutes before serving with the hazelnut bread.

This is a really yummy, easy appetiser. Looks impressive too! Cooking time doesn't include 20-30 mins setting time. Serves 4 as part of a larger cheese platter, or selection of appetisers.

125 g brie cheese or 125 g camembert cheese, round
1 sheet frozen puff pastry

Steps:

  • Place brie on the pastry, draw a circle round it with a knife (about 1/2 inch larger than the cheese) and cut out the circle.
  • Do the same again.
  • Cut a strip of pastry about 1/2" wide that's long enough to wrap around the brie.
  • Place the brie on one circle of pastry and tuck the sides up, place another circle on top of the brie and tuck the sides down, then wrap the pastry strip round it to tidy it all up.
  • You can press the edges down with a fork if you want it to look REALLY neat, then decorate it with pastry scraps cut into nice shapes.
  • Brush it over with a beaten egg so it will have a nice glaze when cooked.
  • Bake at 180 degrees for around 20-25 minutes.
  • Let it settle for around 20-30 mins then cut into thin wedges and serve.
