Easy 5 ingredient recipe for pizza dough. You can also use half as much white flour and substitute wheat flour or semolina flour

1 1/4 cups water, plus 2 tbs separated
3 tablespoons oil (vegetable or olive)
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups all-purpose flour or 4 cups bread flour
2 teaspoons active dry yeast, for bread machines

Steps:

  • Load all ingredients into the bread machine IN ORDER LISTED making a small well in the flour for the yeast.
  • Set machine to dough cycle and start.
  • After about ten minutes add a bit of water if the dough seems dry.
  • You may also add spices and dried herbs to the dough. Add them after the salt but before the flour.
  • Roll dough onto pizza pan, top and bake at 400 degrees for 15- 20 minute.

If you use a pizza stone, sprinkle it with cornmeal before placing the pizza on it to help keep it from sticking. Feel free to try different spices if you don't like any of the ones in this recipe.

3 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon sea salt
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon minced garlic
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
¼ teaspoon dried basil
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon dried cilantro
¼ teaspoon paprika
2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

Steps:

  • Put the water, olive oil, sugar, sea salt, flour, garlic, oregano, basil, black pepper, cilantro, paprika, and dry yeast into the pan of a bread machine individually in order as listed. Select Dough cycle; press Start. Let dough rest 5 to 30 minutes before using; the longer it rests, the thicker the crust.

1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Mix in oil and warm water. Spread out on a large pizza pan. Top as desired.
  • Bake at 375 degrees C (190 degrees C) for 20 to 25 minutes.

This is basically an amalgam of several basic bread recipes, simplified and adapted for use as a pizza crust. The bread machine just makes it easier. Makes a 10-14" inch pie.

1 cup water
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups bread flour
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon bread machine quick-acting active dry yeast
2 teaspoons dried herbs (basil, rosemary, oregano, parsley, etc.) (optional)
1 teaspoon semolina (or yellow cornmeal) (optional)

Steps:

  • Add ingredients to pan in order listed, set bread machine on"dough" and walk away.
  • After the cycle is completed, lightly coat dough ball in flour and roll or slap out to desired size.
  • Top with desired sauce, cheeses, meats and/or veggies and bake at 450° until cheese is golden brown.
  • Will make a 9-10" pizza of average thickness, or a 13-14" thin crust pizza.
  • For best results, bake on a preheated baking stone sprinkled with corn meal.
  • Notes: You may substitute beer for all or part of the water. I've used 3/4 cup flat beer and 1/4 water with excellent results. A teaspoon of semolina may be added as well -- it provides a nice crunchiness to the dough when baked. Corn meal can be substituted for the semolina (and likewise, semolina can be used to dust the pizza peel and/or baking stone).

This is a really easy way to make a good "yeasty" pizza dough! As well as using this recipe for when I'm making pizza, I also use it for when I'm making a focaccia or a calzone. (The preparation time I have given includes the time it takes to make the dough in the machine and the time it takes for the pizza dough to proof - after removing it from the bread machine, 30 minutes.)

2 teaspoons dried granulated yeast
3 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup water, plus
2 tablespoons water

Steps:

  • SOME PIZZA TOPPING IDEAS.
  • Caramelised onions and roasted garlic.
  • Mozzarella cheese, Camembert, Romano and Feta (for a really, really cheezy pizza!).
  • Equal parts of basil pesto and olive oil mixed together with Parmesan or Romano cheese.
  • Plus some roughly chopped sundried or SEMI-dried tomatoes, sliced black olives and LOTS of grated Mozzarella cheese, salt and lost of freshly ground black pepper!
  • Cranberry jelly, shredded chicken, sliced Brie!
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded chicken and sliced avocado!
  • THE BREAD.
  • Place all the above ingredients in the order I have listed into the bread machine.
  • Select the dough cycle and press start!
  • When the dough cycle is complete, take the dough out of the machine and place in well greased bowl, and roll the dough around (in the bowl) thus 'coating' it in oil.
  • Cover and leave to rise in a warm place for about 1/2 an hour.
  • Knead the risen dough lightly.
  • To shape and bake: roll the dough into a circle.
  • Place on well greased baking tray or pizza pan.
  • Then add a topping of your choice and bake at 225'C.
  • NOTE: for a nice crisp and very thin pizza, bake BEFORE adding the topping AND after!

¾ cup warm water - 100 to 110 degrees F (40 to 45 degrees C)
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
2 teaspoons olive oil

Steps:

  • Pour the warm water into the pan of the bread machine, and add the flour on top of the water. Sprinkle with salt and sugar, and top with the yeast. Set the machine on the dough setting, and push the start button. When the machine signals that the dough is finished, transfer to a well-floured work surface.
  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • Roll or stretch the dough out into thin crust about 14 inches across. Leave dough thick at the edge. Place the dough onto a 14-inch pizza baking sheet, and brush the dough with the olive oil.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 5 minutes before removing to top with desired ingredients for final baking.

I'm adding this recipe for the benefit of friends and family because I have this recipe memorized! This is based on Laura Brody's recipe from her book, Bread Machine Baking. This one is customized for the Panasonic/National. I also didn't divide the dough into 2 pieces -- I simply use the entire dough to make a thick-crusted pizza that fits the dimension of my pizza stone.

1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup cornmeal (plus another tablespoon for dusting pizza paddle or cookie sheet)
3 tablespoons whole wheat flour
3 cups unbleached white flour (made from hard wheat)
1 1/4 cups water (plus an additional 1 or 2 tablespoons if the mixture looks dry and crumbly after the first 10 minute)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon yeast

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Program the machine for the dough setting and press start.
  • After the cycle completes, remove the dough from the machine and let it rest for 10 minutes at room temperature.
  • If you have a pizza stone or tiles, place them on the middle rack of the oven.
  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees farenheit.
  • Sprinkle either a wooden pizza paddle or a heavy-duty cookie sheet with additional cornmeal.
  • Use your hands or a floured rolling pin to form a flat 10- to 12-inch disk.
  • Place the rolled-out dough onto either the pizza paddle (if using) or the cookie sheet.
  • Optional: place shredded cheese, such as mozzarella, around the perimeter and roll the dough over the cheese for a thick cheese-filled border.
  • Add the toppings of your choice (I frequently just top with canned pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, sausage and/or pepperoni, sliced mushrooms and olives).
  • Slide the pizza onto the hot stone or tiles (if using) or slide the cookie sheet into the oven.
  • Bake for 18 minutes (or adjust the time based on how you divided the dough and on the thickness of the crust).
  • Serve hot.

  • Add all ingredients to bread pan in the order given.
  • Select dough cycle.
  • Add water if too dry. A little at a time.
  • After dough cycle is complete, roll dough or stretch to fit pizza pan.
  • We sprinkle our dough pan with cornmeal but its just an option.
  • No need to let dough rest again just start loading up with sauce and toppings.
  • Bake pizza at 450 for 15-20 minutes.

  • Place ingredients in bread machine in order given. Select the DOUGH cycle and start. Peek at the dough after 5 minutes. It should be gathering into a ball that sticks to the edge of the pan, then pulls away. If it doesn't still add a tablespoon of water. If it won't pull away after sticking, add a tablespoon of flour.
  • When the DOUGH cycle completes and the pizza dough is double the original size, remove dough from the bread pan to a floured surface. Divide into 2 pieces and shape each half into a ball. Cover and allow to rest for 10-15 minutes.
  • Spray 2 heavy pizza pans (I use 2 13-inch round pans) or a baking sheet with olive oil. Push and cajole pizza to the desired thinness with your hands. Using a rolling pin tends to make the dough compact. If the dough is resistant to stretching, let it sit and relax for a few minutes then come back to it.
