I've been using this recipe for years and it's never failed me. Easy and delicious (and ever so slightly sweet!)

Provided by Erin McGowen

Categories     Biscuits

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 c flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/3 c shortening or butter
1/4 c sugar (i use a liiiitle more)
1 c milk

Steps:

  • 1. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut in shortening or butter until mix resembles course meal. Gradually stir in milk until dough pulls away from bowl.
  • 2. Turn out on floured surface and kneed 15-20 times. Roll and cut biscuits. Alternatively, you can just grab spoonfuls of the mix and drop them on a baking sheet, if you don't like to roll. It works the same!

BREAKFAST IN A BISCUIT

Breakfast in a Biscuit image

Very easy to make ahead and freeze. Pop one or two in the microwave on busy mornings and you're out the door in seconds!

Provided by Marianne Gleason

Categories     Other Breakfast

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 can(s) biscuits, 10 count, small
4 eggs
3 Tbsp milk
1/3 c cheddar cheese, shredded
1 c cooked sausage, bacon or ham
salt & pepper to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Whisk eggs and milk together along with a pinch of salt and pepper. Roll out each biscuit until it's slightly bigger than your muffin tin. Spray the muffin tin with cooking spray and push one biscuit into each muffin cup - being sure to push it all the way down and up the sides. Divide the meat and cheese evenly in each of the biscuit cups. Pour egg mixture in, until 2/3 full. Don't overfill. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until biscuits are golden and eggs are set.
  • 2. I used sliced ham from the deli in these. You could also make these savory by adding taco seasoned meat and salsa to the eggs and cheese.
