SLOW COOKER PEAR BUTTER (GLUTEN-FREE, VEGAN, PALEO)
Smooth, creamy, and sweet Slow Cooker Pear Butter that's so simple to make! Your favorite combination of pears cooked down in the crock-pot for a perfectly sweet and aromatic spread recipe that's gluten-free, vegan, paleo, and allergy-free!

Steps:
- Place the cubed pears in a greased large slow cooker and put the rest of the ingredients right on top of the pears.
- Cover and cook on high for 4 hours, no mixing required at this time.
- After 4 hours, remove the lid and mash the pears a bit before carefully transferring into a large blender. Blend the mixture until completely smooth, about 30 seconds.
- Add the mixture back into the slow cooker with the cover slightly ajar and cook on high for another 3-4 hours until thick, mixing every 30 minutes or so. (It thickens more after cooking as it cools).
- Allow it to cool a bit before storing in glass jars and refrigerating for 3-4 weeks.

Steps:
- Place pears in a food processor or blender; puree until smooth.
- Measure 3 cups pureed pears into a saucepan. Add sugar. Cook, stirring occasionally, until bubbling, about 15 minutes. Stir in cinnamon. Cook, stirring frequently, until thick, about 15 minutes more.
- Immerse a 1-pint jar in simmering water for 5 minutes. Wash lid and ring in warm soapy water. Fill hot jar with pear mixture. Seal and store in the refrigerator.

Steps:
- In a kettle, combine water and half the lemon juice. Peel, core and quarter the pears, placing them in lemon juice mixture to retard browning until all have been peeled.
- Drain liquid in kettle. Add grape juice and remaining lemon juice; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium; cook until pears are soft,about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool.
- Press through a sieve or food mill, or process in a blender until smooth. Return puree to kettle. Add spices;cook and stir until very thick; 20-35 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in sweetener. Adjust sweetener to taste.
- Pour into jars or plastic containers. Refrigerate up to 3 weeks. ( For longer storage time pour hot into hot jars, leaving 1/4 inches headspace. Process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes. Use within 3 weeks of opening).

SUGAR FREE PEAR BUTTER
I was looking for something sugar free to have with cream cheese on a low carb slice of bread. I wanted something with fiber and spices. This is what I came up with.

Steps:
- Place pears in pan with no added liquid.
- Cook until soft.
- Mash.
- Put thru a ricer or sieve and discard seeds and skin.
- Add spices and lemon juice and return to stove.
- Cook until no liquid runs off when a small amount is placed on a dish. Remove from heat.
- Add vanilla and splenda.
- Can or place in a container and refrigerate.
