½ cup heavy cream

Steps:

  • Combine sour cream, brown sugar, and brandy in a bowl and mix to combine.
  • Beat cream in a chilled glass or metal bowl using an electric mixer until frothy. Add white sugar gradually, continuing to beat until whipped cream is thick. Fold whipped cream into sour cream mixture and blend well. Serve with fresh strawberries.

This recipe for strawberries Romanoff is a classic Russian-American dessert invented by Michael Romanoff at his namesake now-closed restaurant.

1/4 cup strawberry liqueur
1/4 cup orange-flavored liqueur such as ​ Grand Marnier
2 tablespoons cognac
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar (optional if the fruit is sweet)
2 quarts fresh perfectly ripe small to medium strawberries, rinsed
3 pints French vanilla ice cream
1 cup heavy whipping cream (whipped)
Garnish: mint sprigs

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • In a large bowl, combine strawberry and orange liqueurs, cognac and lemon juice, and up to 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar if berries are not sweet.
  • Reserve 8 whole strawberries for garnish. Hull the remaining strawberries and cut them in half. Marinate the halves in the liqueur mixture at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, soften 2 pints of the vanilla ice cream and then carefully fold in the whipped cream. Carefully fold in the marinated strawberries, leaving the liquid behind. (If desired, you can drizzle this on top of the finished dessert or drink it.)
  • Place a small scoop of the remaining 1 pint of vanilla ice cream in the bottom of 8 large stemmed glasses. Fill the glasses with the strawberry ice cream and whipped cream mixture.
  • Garnish with one of the reserved whole strawberries and a mint sprig. Sprinkle with brown sugar or confectioners' sugar, if desired. Serve immediately.

  • Blend 1 cup berries and granulated sugar in blender until smooth. Strain through fine-meshed sieve; discard seeds.
  • Mix next 4 ingredients until blended.
  • Spoon 1/4 cup of the remaining berries into each of 4 dessert dishes. Top with COOL WHIP mixture, remaining sliced berries and strained mashed berries.

1 pint vanilla ice cream, softened
1 pint sour cream
3 tablespoons brandy
3 tablespoons orange liqueur
2 cups chopped chocolate
4 pints strawberries, hulled

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the softened ice cream and sour cream and mix well. Add the brandy and orange liqueur and mix until well combined. Refrigerate until the ice cream has completely melted and the mixture is a sauce consistency, about 30 minutes.
  • Place the chocolate in a bowl set over a pot of barely simmering water. Make sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Stir the chocolate until melted and smooth.
  • Pour the ice cream mixture over the strawberries. Drizzle with chocolate and serve.

1-1/2 cups boiling water
2 pkg. (3 oz. each) JELL-O Strawberry Flavor Gelatin
3/4 cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream
1 cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 325ºF.
  • Combine first 3 ingredients; press onto bottom and up side of 9-inch pie plate. Bake 10 min. Meanwhile, mash 1 cup strawberries. Slice remaining strawberries; refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Add boiling water to gelatin mixes in medium bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Stir in mashed berries until blended. Refrigerate 45 min. or until slightly thickened.
  • Whisk sour cream into gelatin mixture until blended. Refrigerate 20 min. or until thick enough to mound; spoon into crust.
