Quick Italian Spaghetti image

Quick Italian Spaghetti has been a standby for Ruth Peterson of Jenison, Michigan for some 40 years now. "I can make it in a jiffy, and there's no other spaghetti recipe my husband's even interested in trying!" Ruth says.

1/2 pound ground beef
3/4 cup thinly sliced green onions
3 cans (8 ounces each) tomato sauce
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 can (2-1/4 ounces) sliced ripe olives, drained
Cooked spaghetti
Grated Parmesan cheese
Bacon bits, optional

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef and onions over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add the tomato sauce, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10 minutes. , Add olives; simmer 5 minutes longer. Spoon over spaghetti; sprinkle with cheese and bacon bits if desired.

Learned how to make it from my mother in law, it was a family favorite and still is. Its quick and easy more flavorful than jarred sauce.

1 small onion (chopped)
1 bell pepper (chopped)
2 tablespoons garlic powder
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (16 ounce) box spaghetti noodles
1 -1 1/2 lb hamburger meat

Steps:

  • On medium heat melt the butter and sautee the onion and bell peppers.
  • Add the hamburger meat and cook until meat is well done.
  • Add the tomato sauce, salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  • Salt, pepper and garlic powder can be adjusted to your own tastes.
  • Cook noodles as directed.
  • Mix the sauce and noodles if you like, I keep them separated.

Steps:

  • In a nonstick skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the spaghetti sauce, water and spaghetti; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until spaghetti is tender. Add process cheese; stir until melted. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of tomato soup (condensed)
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup (condensed)
1 lb ground beef
1 lb spaghetti
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package onion soup mix

Steps:

  • Pan fry ground beef and drain.
  • mix in soups, you may add approx 1/4 cup of water if its too thick.
  • add onion mix and let simmer while you cook spaghetti.
  • cook spaghetti, drain and serve with sauce.
  • On a side note, we add a couple tbsp of cheese whiz to our spaghetti in the pot and mix it around, it adds a nice cheesy flavour.

1 pound lean ground beef
12 ounces spaghetti
1 onion, chopped
⅓ cup vegetable oil
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
2 ½ tablespoons tomato paste
⅔ cup water

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a medium skillet. Add chopped onions, and cook until tender. Add ground beef, and brown. Stir in salt and turmeric. Dilute tomato paste in water, and add to the beef mixture. Cook for 30 minutes over medium heat.
  • Cook spaghetti in a large kettle of boiling salted water according to package directions. Drain well.
  • Combine beef mixture and noodles in a large kettle. Cover, and cook over medium heat for 30 to 40 minutes.

The secret ingredient in this ultrafast Bolognese is Worcestershire sauce. Once the Bolognese has simmered, use tongs to transfer the pasta directly from the pot to the skillet, then toss in some of the starchy pasta cooking liquid for a glossy, saucy finish.

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1/2 pound ground beef (preferably 20 percent fat), pork or dark meat turkey
12 ounces spaghetti, pappardelle or other long pasta
1/4 cup tomato paste
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Grated Parmesan, for serving

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Add onion, garlic and 1/2 teaspoon salt and cook, stirring often, until beginning to soften, 3 minutes. Add beef and cook, breaking up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 3 minutes.
  • Add pasta to the pot and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  • Meanwhile, add tomato paste to skillet and cook, stirring, until darkened, about 1 minute. Add 1 cup water, Worcestershire, 1/2 teaspoon pepper and 1/2 teaspoon salt and simmer until slightly reduced, about 5 minutes.
  • Using tongs, transfer pasta directly from the pot to the skillet along with 1 cup pasta water. Increase heat to high and simmer vigorously, tossing, until sauce reduces and coats the pasta, about 2 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve with Parmesan.
