Provided by TipBuzz

Categories     marinade     Sauces

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1/3 cup soy sauce
½ cup olive oil
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
1 tablespoon lime juice (or red wine vinegar / balsamic vinegar)
½ small onion (small chunks)
3 cloves garlic (minced (1 tablespoon minced garlic))
2 tablespoons green onions (minced)
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning (or fresh thyme and rosemary)
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt
2 pounds flank steak ((907g))

Steps:

  • Add all ingredients except the steak to a mixing bowl. Whisk together until fully combined.
  • Pierce the flank steak with a fork all over, and then place in the bowl*.
  • Turn the steak several times to coat thoroughly.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 2-24 hours.
  • Remove from the fridge 30 minutes before grilling. Take the steak out of the marinade and remove excess moisture with paper towels. Discard the marinade**.
  • Preheat grill for medium-high heat, about 400°F (204°C).
  • Spray the grill grates with cooking oil spray.
  • When hot, place flank steak on the grill.
  • Grill the first side for 1 minute to sear. Then flip the steak and grill 1 minute on the other side.
  • Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes per PER SIDE to desired doneness***, flipping every minute for even cooking.
  • Remove to a cutting board and let the steak rest covered with aluminum foil for 5 minutes (this is so the juices retreat into the meat).
  • Slice thinly against the grain to serve.

FLANK STEAK MARINADE

Flank Steak Marinade image

This flank steak recipe has been in our family for years. Quick, simple marinade to make that will keep your guests coming for more.

Provided by Chef Ron

Categories     Meat and Poultry Recipes     Beef     Steaks     Flank Steak Recipes

Time 8h25m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 (1 1/2-pound) flank steak, fat trimmed
¾ cup olive oil
½ cup light brown sugar
½ cup dry red wine
¼ cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons onion powder
3 tablespoons honey
3 whole green onions, coarsely chopped
4 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons garlic vinegar
1 ½ teaspoons ground ginger
1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder

Steps:

  • Score the flank steak by making shallow crisscross cuts on both sides.
  • Place the olive oil, light brown sugar, red wine, soy sauce, onion powder, honey, green onions, garlic cloves, garlic vinegar, ground ginger, and garlic powder in a blender. Puree until smooth; pour mixture into a resealable plastic bag. Add the steak, coat with the marinade, squeeze out excess air, and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator overnight.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat, and lightly oil the grate.
  • Allow the flank steak to rest at room temperature for 20 minutes. Remove the steak from the marinade, and shake off excess. Pour the marinade into a small saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 10 minutes; set aside.
  • Grill the steak on the preheated grill until it starts to firm, and is reddish-pink and juicy in the center, about 7 minutes per side, basting often with the sterilized marinade. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 130 degrees F (54 degrees C).

FLANK STEAK IN MUSHROOM WINE SAUCE

Flank Steak in Mushroom Wine Sauce image

From Mable Hoffman's Crockery Cookery. I really liked this crockpot dish. Flank steak is lower in fat than many cuts.

Provided by Debbie R.

Categories     Meat

Time 7h15m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 -1 1/2 lb beef flank steak
1/4 cup sauterne white wine (regular dry white wine isn't quite as good)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 garlic clove, minced
10 1/2 ounces condensed beef broth
1 tablespoon ketchup or 1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 small onion, finely chopped
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1/2 lb fresh mushrooms, sliced

Steps:

  • Put steak in crockpot.
  • Combine wine, soy sauce, garlic, broth, ketchup or tomato paste, mustard and onion. Pour over steak.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours.
  • Turn to high. Dissolve cornstarch in water; stir into crockpot. Add mushrooms.
  • Cover and cook on high for 20-30 minutes or until mushrooms are tender.
  • For serving, meat should be cut across the grain.
  • Note: I remove the meat to a plate and cover with foil. I then put the sauce in a saucepan and heat over med-hi to high heat while stirring so that it's done more quickly than the method stated above.
