2 tablespoons onion powder
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

12 pieces wheat bread
Cilantro Mayonnaise Sauce, recipe follows
1 tomato, sliced

1 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons freshly chopped cilantro leaves
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon hot sauce
Pinch coarse black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt

FOCACCIA

Focaccia image

Make a simple, homemade version of this classic Italian bread. Serve our rosemary focaccia alongside pasta dishes or enjoy with green salads

Provided by Liberty Mendez

Categories     Side dish

Time 45m

Yield Serves 12

Number Of Ingredients 6

500g strong bread flour , plus extra for dusting
7g dried fast action yeast
2 tsp fine sea salt
5 tbsp olive oil , plus extra for the tin and to serve
1 tsp flaky sea salt
¼ small bunch of rosemary , sprigs picked

Steps:

  • Tip the flour into a large mixing bowl. Mix the yeast into one side of the flour, and the fine salt into the other side. Then mix everything together, this initial seperation prevents the salt from killing the yeast.
  • Make a well in the middle of the flour and add 2 tbsp oil and 350-400ml lukewarm water, adding it gradually until you have a slightly sticky dough (you may not need all the water). Sprinkle the work surface with flour and tip the dough onto it, scraping around the sides of the bowl. Knead for 5-10 mins until your dough is soft and less sticky. Put the dough into a clean bowl, cover with a tea towel and leave to prove for 1 hr until doubled in size.
  • Oil a rectangle, shallow tin (25 x 35cm). Tip the dough onto the work surface, then stretch it to fill the tin. Cover with a tea towel and leave to prove for another 35-45 mins.
  • Heat the oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7. Press your fingers into the dough to make dimples. Mix together 1½ tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp water and the flaky salt and drizzle over the bread. Push sprigs of rosemary into the dimples in the dough.
  • Bake for 20 mins until golden. Whilst the bread is still hot, drizzle over 1-2 tbsp olive oil. Cut into squares and serve warm or cold with extra olive oil, if you like.

FOCACCIA TURKEY BACON CLUB

Focaccia Turkey Bacon Club image

I use a large foccacia loaf to make one big sandwich that can be sliced into appropriate serving sizes. My husband and son can have larger size sandwiches, while my daughter and I can have smaller sizes. I also use this recipe for entertaining, by making several large sandwiches and then slicing them into smaller size servings and securing with colorful toothpicks.

Provided by Sanzibar -

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 23m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 large round focaccia bread
4 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
6 slices smoked provolone cheese
1/2 lb oven-roasted turkey breast (from deli)
12 slices cooked bacon (or turkey bacon)
1 cup fresh basil leaf (or spinach or arugula)
1 large sliced tomatoes
1 ripe avocado, peeled and sliced thin

Steps:

  • Preheat oven broiler.
  • Slice the foccacia bread in half horizontally so you have a top and a bottom piece. Place on a cookie sheet with the cut sides up.
  • Mix the olive oil, garlic powder, and oregano in a small bowl. Brush each cut side of the bread round evenly with the oil mixture.
  • Place under the broiler until the bread slightly browns (watch closely - this only takes a few minutes).
  • Remove the bottom bread section from the cookie sheet. Place the provolone cheese evenly on the top bread section. Return to the broiler until the cheese is melted (again, watch closely). Turn off the oven.
  • Finish building the sandwich on the bottom bread section by piling on the basil, avacado, turkey, and tomato. Add the top bread section, and slice into servings.
  • I like to serve this sandwich as a meal with Italian chicken tortellini soup or tomato soup.

TURKEY CLUB

Turkey Club image

The key ingredient in this perfect turkey club? Fresh turkey breast rubbed with herbs, slow roasted at home, and thinly sliced.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     main-dish

Time 10m

Yield 1 turkey club sandwich

Number Of Ingredients 0

Steps:

  • Bread: Use 3 slices of a good white sandwich bread (pain au lait or Pullman loaves are ideal). Be sure to toast it!
  • Lettuce: Bibb and Boston lettuce both have nice small, soft leaves that fit well on the sandwich; shredded iceberg can be unruly.
  • Tomatoes: Add 2 slices of tomato to each layer of a club; season with salt and pepper before you continue building the sandwich.
  • Turkey: Fresh roasted turkey is key. Rub a 2 1/4-pound skinless, boneless turkey breast with olive oil; sprinkle generously with Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Roast 10 minutes at 425˚ F, then reduce to 350˚ F and roast until the internal temperature is 160˚ F, 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool, then slice.
  • Mayonnaise: Spread a thick layer of mayo on each slice of toasted bread.
  • Bacon: You'll want 3 slices per sandwich (1 1/2 slices in each layer). Halve the slices first, then cook in a skillet over medium heat until crisp.

THANKSGIVING FOCACCIA RECIPE BY TASTY

Thanksgiving Focaccia Recipe by Tasty image

Whether you call it stuffing or dressing, this traditional Thanksgiving side dish just got a major upgrade. Instead of drying out bread overnight, we skipped that step and stuffed focaccia dough with all of the traditional elements of dressing. It's got onions, apples, sausage, herbs, and even chicken stock in the dough! It's golden brown and crispy on the outside with a soft interior. So good!

Provided by Tasty

Categories     Bakery Goods

Time 15h

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 21

5 cups bread flour
1 tablespoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
1 ½ teaspoons granulated chicken bouillon
2 ¼ teaspoons instant fast-acting yeast
2 ½ cups chicken stock, warmed
1 tablespoon honey
6 tablespoons olive oil, divided
16 oz mild italian sausage
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 medium yellow onion, finely diced
1 green apple, peeled and cut into ¼-inch (6 mm) cubes
2 stalks celery, finely diced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1 ½ teaspoons fresh thyme
10 green apple slices
10 whole fresh sage sages
2 teaspoons fresh thyme
flaky sea salt
freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Make the dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, kosher salt, chicken bouillon, and yeast. Pour in the chicken stock and honey and stir with a rubber spatula until a shaggy dough forms and no dry spots remain.
  • Grease another large bowl with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Transfer the dough to the greased bowl and turn to coat with the oil. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit overnight in the refrigerator. The dough should double in size.
  • Make the filling: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and cook, breaking up into small pieces, until no longer pink, 5-6 minutes. Remove the sausage from the pan and set aside. Reserve ¼ cup of the sausage for topping the focaccia.
  • Wipe out any excess grease from the skillet with a paper towel. Add the butter to the skillet. Once melted, add the onion, apples, and celery. Season with kosher salt and cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic, sage, parsley, and thyme and cook until fragrant, 30-60 seconds. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the cooked sausage. Let the filling cool to room temperature.
  • Assemble the focaccia: Grease an 8 x 13-inch baking sheet with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, using your hands to spread the oil all around the pan to coat. Divide the dough in half and transfer one portion to the oiled pan. With oiled hands, gently stretch the dough to fill the baking sheet.
  • Spread the filling over the dough, then press the remaining dough over the filling, making sure to seal the edges so the filling is encased between the dough. Cover with plastic wrap and let proof at room temperature for 1-2 hours, until the dough rises to fill the pan.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Remove the plastic wrap and drizzle the dough with the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Use your fingers to dimple the surface of the dough. Garnish with the reserved cooked sausage, apple slices, sage leaves, thyme, flaky salt, and black pepper.
  • Bake the focaccia for 40-45 minutes, turning halfway through, until the bread is golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the focaccia from the oven and let cool in the pan for 15 minutes before serving.
  • Enjoy!
