Fudgy Bacon Supreme image

Creamy chocolate fudge, topped off with a sweet chocolate ganache and garnished with (YOU GUESSED IT!) crunchy salty bacon! This combination of sweet and savory is PERFECT for unexpected appetizers, or just a dessert worth trying. I used this recipe for a contest, and won 50 bucks!

3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 pinch salt
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup heavy cream
9 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
12 slices good-quality bacon, partially frozen
1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • For fudge, melt chocolate chips in a saucepan over very low heat . When the chips are nearly all melted, stir in the condensed milk until the mixture is very smooth and creamy, and add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Pour the fudge into a square 9x9-inch pan, and refrigerate until firm, at least 2 hours.
  • For ganache topping, place heavy cream and chopped milk chocolate into the top of a double boiler over simmering water, and stir until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat, and pour the ganache over the chilled fudge in an even layer. Return to refrigerator for at least 2 more hours to chill.
  • Slice bacon into 1/2-inch squares, and place into a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until evenly browned and very crisp, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon on a paper towel-lined plate. Sprinkle bacon bits with a pinch of salt.
  • Spread the bacon bits over the ganache layer, pressing the bacon lightly into the fudge. Return to refrigerator, chill until bacon is cooled, at least 30 minutes; cut into squares.

Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
1 pint ice cream (any flavor)
9 tablespoons chocolate syrup

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan).). Line 8-inch square pan with foil, allowing some to hang over edges of pan. Grease bottom and sides of foil with shortening or cooking spray. Make brownies as directed on box. Cool completely on cooling rack, about 1 1/2 hours. Using foil to lift, remove brownies from pan, and peel foil away. Cut into 3 rows by 3 rows.
  • Top each brownie with about 1/4 cup ice cream; drizzle with 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup.

1 box (1 lb 2.3 oz) Betty Crocker™ fudge brownie mix
Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on brownie mix box
1 teaspoon almond extract
4 cups vanilla ice cream, slightly softened
1 bag (12 oz) frozen dark sweet cherries, halved
1/3 cup Hershey's® chocolate-flavor syrup

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Spray bottom of 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray. In large bowl, stir brownie mix, water, oil and eggs until well blended. Stir in almond extract; pour into pan.
  • Bake 24 to 26 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • In large bowl, mix ice cream and cherries. Place heaping spoonfuls of ice cream mixture over brownies; lightly press with back of spoon to smooth. Freeze at least 1 hour before serving.
  • Let stand at room temperature about 10 minutes before cutting. Drizzle individual servings with syrup. Garnish with a mint leaf and a maraschino cherry, if desired.
