Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb flank steak ((or top sirloin - thinly sliced, against the grain))
1/2 Tbsp corn starch
1 Tbsp olive oil ((extra virgin))
1 Tbsp garlic ((finely minced or crushed))
8 oz mushrooms ((sliced - white button mushrooms, cremini or shiitake))
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 Tbsp soy sauce
2 green onions ((sliced, optional, garnish))
sesame seeds ((optional, garnish))

Steps:

  • Place thinly sliced beef in a large bowl, then sprinkle the cornstarch over the beef. Toss the beef until lightly coated with the cornstarch, set aside.
  • Heat a wok, large skillet, or non-stick frying pan over medium high heat with the olive oil. Once the oil begins to shimmer, add the garlic and mushrooms. Stir frequently and cook until the garlic is golden and fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the thinly sliced beef and continue to cook over medium high heat until the beef is about half way cooked. Add the soy sauce and sprinkle garlic powder and black pepper over the cooking beef. Stir to coat and continue to cook until the meat is completely browned.
  • Remove from heat and serve immediately. Serve over rice or fried noodles, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

SPICY GARLIC BEEF STIR FRY

Spicy Garlic Beef Stir Fry image

This stir fry is delicious with tender strips of beef, sweet fresh veggies and a spicy beef sauce. I like to marinate my stir fry meat before cooking to add an extra layer of flavor. I like to use Dale's Liquid Steak Seasoning, but it can be difficult to find. If you can't find this product, substitute 1 1/2 tbs. soy sauce plus 1 tbs. Worcestershire Sauce. It's not the same but close enough. The heat level of this dish is just right for me, but you may adjust the amount of cayenne pepper per your taste.

Categories     One Dish Meal

Time 50m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 17

1 lb sirloin steak, sliced into thin strips (1/4-inch)
2 tablespoons dale's liquid steak seasoning (low sodium)
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ginger, ground
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 beef bouillon cube
1/2 cup water, boiling
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cups snow peas, trimmed
1 cup red bell pepper, sliced into thin strips
1 cup asparagus, sliced into 2-inch lengths
1 garlic clove, minced
1 onion, sliced thin (medium-sized)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
2 cups white rice (I use quick-cooking)

Steps:

  • In a small mixing bowl, dissolve beef bouillon cube in boiling water. Set aside to cool.
  • Place beef and steak seasoning in a plastic resealable bag. Seal bag, releasing as much air as possible, and toss/squeeze with hands until well coated. Marinate for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Once beef bouillon mixture has cooled, whisk in soy sauce, garlic powder, ginger, cayenne pepper and cornstarch. Set aside.
  • In a wok, heat 1 tbs. oil until glistening. Brown beef strips on both sides, leaving a slight tinge of pink in the middle. Remove to another dish, cover and set aside.
  • Add remaining 1 tbs. oil to wok. Add vegetables and black pepper and cook until crisp-tender. Once vegetables are cooked, return beef to wok and toss to combine.
  • Make a well in the center of the wok and add sauce mixture, stirring constantly until slightly thickened. Then toss all together.
  • Serve immediately over rice.

STIR-FRIED BEEF WITH GARLIC AND ROSEMARY

Stir-Fried Beef with Garlic and Rosemary image

Take stir-fry in a completely new direction by changing the flavor profile. Serve on cooked polenta sliced, brushed with oil and broiled, or soft.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Ingredients     Meat & Poultry     Beef Recipes

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 9

Coarse salt
1 pound skirt or sirloin steak, thinly sliced across the grain
2 tablespoons olive oil, plus 1 teaspoon for polenta
1 head broccoli, cut into florets, stems peeled and sliced (3 cups total)
4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
2 sprigs rosemary
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tube (18 ounces) prepared polenta, cut into 1/2-inch slices

Steps:

  • Heat broiler. Brush a rimmed baking sheet with oil and arrange slices in a single layer; brush 1 teaspoon oil over tops. Broil 4 inches from heat, without turning, until golden and browning in spots, 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, season steak with salt. In a large skillet, heat oil over high and swirl to coat. In batches, cook steak, undisturbed, until brown on one side, 2 minutes (do not crowd pan). Flip and cook until cooked just cooked through, 1 minute. Transfer to a plate.
  • Add broccoli and 1/3 cup water to skillet and cook until broccoli is bright green and water almost evaporates, about 2 minutes. Add garlic and rosemary and cook, stirring, until fragrant, 15 seconds. Add vinegar and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, return steak to skillet and toss to coat. Add butter and swirl until melted. Season with salt. Serve over polenta slices.

BIG BEEF AND GARLIC ITALIAN STIR-FRY

Big Beef and Garlic Italian Stir-Fry image

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

Coarse salt
1 bunch of broccoli rabe, coarsely chopped
4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO) (4 times around the pan)
5 large garlic cloves, carefully cracked from the skins and very thinly sliced
2 pounds flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
Coarse black pepper
1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 red bell pepper, cored, seeded, and thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar (eyeball it)
A handful of fresh flat-leaf parsley, chopped
1/2 cup shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano, shaved from a wedge of Parm using a vegetable peeler
Crusty bread, warmed, to pass at the table

Steps:

  • Bring a medium sauce pot of water to a boil, salt it, then add the broccoli rabe and cook for 5 minutes. Drain in a colander, scatter on a cookie sheet or large plate to quick-cool, then reserve.
  • Add the EVOO to a large nonstick skillet and arrange the sliced garlic in an even layer. Turn the heat on medium low and slowly brown the garlic, about 3 to 4 minutes. Keep an eye on it; the garlic can go from golden brown to burned very quickly. Once the garlic is golden brown, remove it with a slotted spoon to a plate lined with a paper towel.
  • Turn the heat up to high. Once the oil ripples and begins to smoke, add the beef to the pan in an even layer and season it with salt and pepper. Do not move the beef for at least 2 to 3 minutes. Give it time to caramelize. If you force it, you will rip the meat and make it tough. Once it is well browned on one side, stir the beef and continue to cook for 1 more minute. Remove the beef from the skillet with a slotted spoon and reserve it on a plate.
  • Return the skillet to the heat and add the onions, bell peppers, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, for 3 minutes, or until the onions and peppers are tender. Add the reserved broccoli rabe, toss, and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper and continue to cook for 2 minutes. Add the reserved beef and the golden garlic. Add the balsamic vinegar and cook for 1 to 2 more minutes to finish cooking the beef. Turn off the heat and add the parsley. Toss it all together and serve immediately, garnishing each serving with shaved Parmigiano curls. Serve with hot crusty bread.
