1 (18 1/4 ounce) package german chocolate cake mix with pudding
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup chopped pecans
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 large eggs
1 (16 ounce) package powdered sugar, sifted

Steps:

  • In a big mixing bowl, add the first 4 ingredients; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Press mixture into the bottom of a greased 13x9 inch baking dish; set aside.
  • In another mixing bowl, add the cream cheese, 2 eggs, and 1 cup powdered sugar; beat using an electric mixer on medium speed until blended.
  • Gradually add in remaining powdered sugar; beat after each addition.
  • Pour mixture over chocolate crust, spread evenly.
  • Bake at 350° for 40 minutes.
  • Cool on wire rack; cut into squares and serve.

½ cup butter (melted)
3 eggs
8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
4 cups powdered sugar
1 Tablespoon cocoa

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  • Spray a 9x13" pan with cooking spray.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and one egg until it forms a soft dough. Press this mixture into the bottom of the 9x13" pan.
  • In another bowl, mix together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, cocoa, and remaining two eggs until smooth. Pour over top the cake mixture.
  • Bake for 40-50 minutes, until the tops and edges start to crack and turn a more golden brown.

1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 to 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
FILLING:
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup baking cocoa
1 cup sugar
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
TOPPING:
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar, salt, egg, butter and 1 cup of flour; beat until smooth. Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 3-5 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rest for 20 minutes., Punch dough down. Press onto the bottom and up the sides of a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth; gradually add cocoa and sugar. Beat until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla. Pour into crust. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until crust is golden brown; cool. , In a saucepan, combine first four topping ingredients; cook over low heat until thick, about 8-10 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla, coconut and nuts. Spread over cooled cake. Chill at least 1 hour. Store in the refrigerator.

1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 eggs
½ cup baking mix
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (8 ounce) package flaked coconut
1 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, melt chocolate and butter or margarine over low heat. Remove pan from heat.
  • Stir 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk, eggs, biscuit mix, and vanilla into chocolate mixture.
  • Spread batter evenly into a greased 13 x 9 inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the remaining condensed milk with the coconut; spoon evenly over batter in baking dish. Sprinkle nuts over the top; press them down firmly.

I made this cake for my husband last night, who absolutely loves German Chocolate Cake. He said this is the best cake he has ever tasted! This recipe came from the November, 1997 issue of Bon Appetit.

1/2 cup water
6 ounces Baker's German's chocolate, chopped
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
4 large eggs, separated
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup unsalted butter
5 large egg yolks
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 (7 ounce) package sweetened flaked coconut
1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped pecans
1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Make Cake: Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Butter a 13 x 9-inch glass baking dish.
  • Bring water to a simmer in small saucepan.
  • Reduce heat to low.
  • Add chopped chocolate; whisk until smooth.
  • Cool.
  • Sift flour, baking powder and salt into medium bowl.
  • Using elelctric mixer, beat sugar and butter in large bowl until blended.
  • Beat in yolks one at a time.
  • Beat in cooled chocolate mixture and vanilla.
  • Beat in dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk.
  • Using clean, dry beaters, beat whites in another bowl until stiff but not dry.
  • Fold into batter in 2 additions.
  • Pour batter into prepared dish.
  • Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  • Bake until tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 55-60 minutes.
  • Cool cake in pan on rack.
  • Make Frosting: Combine first 5 ingredients in heavy saucepan.
  • Whisk over medium-high heat until mixture simmers, thickens and leaves path on back of spoon when finger is drawn across, about 18 minutes.
  • Mix in coconut and pecans.
  • Spread warm frosting over cake.
  • Immediately sprinkle 1/4 cup chocolate chips over.
  • Let stand until frosting sets, about 2 hours.
  • Cut cake into squares and serve.

FROSTING:
1 cup sugar
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter, cubed
3 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
1 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Prepare cake batter according to package directions; set aside. In a small bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add eggs; beat on low speed just until combined. , Pour half of the cake batter into a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Gently pour cream cheese mixture over batter. Gently spoon remaining batter over top; spread to edge of pan., Bake at 325° for 70-75 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 1 hour. , For frosting, in a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, milk, butter and egg yolks. Cook and stir over medium-low heat until thickened and a thermometer reads 160° or is thick enough to coat the back of a metal spoon. , Remove from the heat. Stir in vanilla; fold in coconut and pecans. Cool until frosting reaches spreading consistency. Frost cooled cake. Refrigerate leftovers.

⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk
1 (18.25 ounce) package German chocolate cake mix
¾ cup butter, melted
½ cup sweetened condensed milk
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour 13 x 9 inch pan.
  • Melt caramels with 1/3 cup condensed milk.
  • In a separate bowl, combine cake mix with melted butter and 1/2 cup of condensed milk. Stir well.
  • Spread 1/2 of the cake mix mixture in pan and bake for 6 to 8 minutes.

1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ German chocolate cake mix
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 container Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy coconut pecan frosting
3 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Lightly grease or spray bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan.
  • In medium bowl, mix butter and cake mix with fork until crumbly; reserve 1 cup. Press remaining mixture in bottom of pan.
  • Bake 10 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked layer. Drop frosting by tablespoonfuls over chocolate chips. Stir milk into reserved cake mixture. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto frosting layer.
