DUTCH BABY (GIANT BAKED PANCAKE)

Dutch Baby (Giant Baked Pancake) image

These look and taste absolutely heavenly! It's great if you have guests or larger gatherings for breakfast or brunch as each pancake has 4-6 servings and, since it is baked, requires less work than regular pancakes. This delicious and impressive-looking recipe is from Sarah Kate, of "The Kitchn". It was a Christmas breakfast tradition in her family. It's also sometimes called a German Pancake and is quite similar to Yorkshire Pudding. If you want a sweeter recipe, increase the sugar to 3 tablespoons and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Batter needs to sit for a half-hour before baking.

Categories     Breakfast

Time 17m

Yield 2 large pancakes, 8-12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup unsalted butter

Steps:

  • Whisk eggs, milk, flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl, or whiz in a blender. Let stand for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Divide butter between two 9 or 10-inch cast iron skillets, glass baking dishes, or one larger rectangular roasting pan. Place in oven until butter melts. Remove pans, swirling butter to coat sides. Divide batter between pans. Bake on lowest rack until golden brown, set on center rack and allow to bake until sides rise high above the sides of the pans, 12-15 minutes.
  • Slice pancake into wedges and serve with dusting of sugar, berries and a squirt of lemon juice, or just some good maple syrup.

GIANT STUFFED BURGER RECIPE BY TASTY

Giant Stuffed Burger Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: bacon, salted butter, large onion, ground beef, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, oil, cheddar cheese, monterey jack cheese, fresh parsley, lettuce, tomato, rolls

Provided by Julie Klink

Categories     Dinner

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 lb bacon
2 tablespoons salted butter
1 large onion, thinly sliced
3 lb ground beef
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
oil, for greasing pan
2 cups cheddar cheese, grated and divided
2 cups monterey jack cheese, grated and divided
1 cup fresh parsley, chopped, divided
lettuce, to serve
tomato, sliced, to serve
8 rolls, to serve

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350˚F (180˚C).
  • On a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, lay 5 of the bacon strips down back to back. Lifting up every other strip, fold about 1-inch (2 cm) the bacon back on itself. Lay another slice of bacon perpendicular to the strips and fold the flaps back over the horizontal strip of bacon. Repeat with the rest of the bacon until a tight weave has formed.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, or until desired crispiness has been reached.
  • In a 10-inch (25 cm) cast iron skillet heat the butter over medium-low heat. Add the onions and cook until a deep gold color, about 45 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • In a bowl, mix together the beef, garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper. Divide the beef mixture in half.
  • On a piece of parchment paper spread half of the meat into a large circle about 10 inches (25 cm) long and 1 inch (2 cm) thick. Repeat with the other half of meat on a separate piece of parchment paper.
  • Sprinkle half of the cheddar and half of the Monterey Jack over one disk of ground beef, along with half of the parsley. Place the bacon lattice on top.
  • Sprinkle the rest of the cheddar and Monterey on top of the bacon lattice, along with the rest of the parsley.
  • Top with the caramelized onions. Place the other circle of meat on directly on top. Begin pinching together the meat patties making sure the fillings are not coming out, until a giant burger is formed.
  • Heat a greased 10 inch (25 cm) cast iron skillet over medium heat. Place the giant burger in the skillet carefully while peeling away the bottom piece of parchment. Cook for 5 minutes, until it is a deep brown color.
  • Using a large plate, place it over the skillet. While holding the plate in place flip the skillet so the burger falls onto to plate. Place the skillet back on the heat and slide the burger back into the pan so the cooked side is facing up now. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and place skillet in the oven to finish cooking for 5 minutes
  • Remove from pan using spatulas and place on a cutting board for serving.
  • Cut into 8 or more pieces. Serve on a roll with lettuce and tomato.
  • Enjoy!

GIANT HEART-SHAPED PAN COOKIE

Giant Heart-Shaped Pan Cookie image

This recipe is perfect for those heart-shaped baking pans you always see in the Valentine section of the supermarket or discount department store. The amount of batter is roughly half of the normal bar cookie recipes. Pink, red, and white M&M's® make it sweetheart-special, but you can always use regular M&M's® or your favorite chocolate chips. Wrap the cooled cookie in plastic or return to pan for serving.

Provided by Jane Guzauskas Ruby

Categories     Desserts     Cookies     Sugar Cookies

Time 48m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 10

cooking spray
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup white sugar
¼ cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour, or more as needed
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup candy-coated milk chocolate pieces (such as M&M's®), or to taste

Steps:

  • Trace the bottom of a heart-shaped aluminum pan over parchment paper; cut along the tracing. Spray pan lightly with cooking spray and line with the heart-shaped paper.
  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Combine butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment; beat until smooth and creamy. Add egg and vanilla; mix until batter is blended, about 50 strokes.
  • Whisk flour, salt, and baking soda together in a small bowl. Add flour mixture into the batter; stir until thick but spreadable, about 100 strokes. Fold in milk chocolate pieces gently. Pour batter into the prepared pan; spread evenly with a spatula, leaving a 1-inch margin from the sides.
  • Bake in the middle shelf of the preheated oven until edges are golden brown and middle is set, 18 to 23 minutes. Press any remaining milk chocolate pieces into the still-warm cookie for decoration.
  • Let cool in pan for 10 to 15 minutes; transfer to a cooling rack and remove the parchment paper.
