This is the best Oatmeal Cookie I have ever tasted and is my family's favorite. This is a recipe that I have had for years that a friend of mine gave me.

3 eggs
1 cup raisins
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup butter flavored shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups quick cooking oats
½ cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Beat eggs, and stir in raisins and vanilla. Refrigerate for at least an hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Cream together shortening, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy. Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon; stir into the sugar mixture. Mix in raisins and eggs, then stir in oats and walnuts. Roll dough into walnut sized balls, and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in preheated oven, or until edges are golden. Cool on wire racks.

2 cups raisins, chopped
3 cups boiling water
3/4 cup butter flavored shortening
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
2 cups old fashioned oats
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Place raisins in a small bowl. Cover with boiling water; let stand for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside. In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Combine the flour, oats, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in walnuts and raisins. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets. Flatten with a glass. Bake at 325° for 8-10 minutes or until bottoms are browned. Remove to wire racks.

These are the best oatmeal raisin cookies. My grandma makes these all the time and I finally got the recipe and had to post! Perfect with a cold glass of milk! If you bake them on parchment paper, you dont have to spray the baking sheet so you can save calories for more important things! :)

1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups quick oats
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup coconut
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
parchment paper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix flour, baking soda,salt, nutmeg,and cinnamon, set aside.
  • Cream Crisco, butter, and sugars together in large bowl.
  • Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  • Add flour mixture.
  • Add oats, raisins, coconut.
  • Bake on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper for about 8-10 minutes.
