BBQ PORK BURGER SLIDERS



BBQ Pork Burger Sliders image

BBQ pork burger sliders with ground pork mixed with barbecue sauce, topped with sauteed onions, and melted mozzarella cheese served on sliders.

12 Slider Buns
2 pounds Ground Pork
1 cup BBQ Sauce
2 cups Shredded Mozzarella
1 Medium-Sized Onion
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
3 tablespoons Butter
1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
Salt & Pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Mix ground pork and BBQ sauce together. I find it easiest to mix in a stand mixer, but by hand works great too. Press ground pork mixture evenly into the bottom of a 13" x 9" baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  • While it bakes, chop onion, and add a tablespoon of olive oil to a large pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add onions, season with salt and pepper, and saute for 7-8 minutes until they become translucent.
  • Remove the pork from the oven and cut the pork in half (or quarters) totransfer to a clean flat surface. It can be tricky to move the pork as it cancrumble easily. Use two large spatulas to transfer in pieces. Drain grease and wipe the bottom of the pan clean.
  • Slice sliders in half length-wise, if not already done so. Place the bottom of the sliders in the baking dish and carefully place ground pork on top. Add sauteed onions and mozzarella. Place the top of the buns on top. Melt 3 tablespoons butter with 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder and brush over the tops of the buns.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes in the oven, then remove andslice each individual slider.

1 large egg, lightly beaten
3/4 cup soft bread crumbs
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
2 teaspoons dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 pounds ground pork
6 hamburger buns, split
Lettuce leaves, sliced tomato and sweet onion, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Crumble pork over mixture and mix well. Shape into six patties. , Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat for 4-5 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160°., Serve on buns; top with lettuce, tomato and onion if desired.

2 -3 lbs ground pork
1 (1 lb) package bacon
2 -3 eggs (I used 3)
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 teaspoons dried rosemary
2 teaspoons ground thyme
2 teaspoons black pepper
1 finely chopped shallot
1 finely chopped red onion
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons soya sauce
2 teaspoons pancake maple syrup
8 slices mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Fry bacon until done but not crisp, add minced garlic half way through cooking bacon. Drain fat and set aside.
  • In a bowl mix eggs, rosemary, thyme and pepper until blended.
  • Add pork, shallot, onion, and the rest of the ingredients including the bacon/garlic, but not the cheese.
  • Mix thoroughly and form patties.
  • BBQ on medium for 10-12 mins per side.
  • Top with cheese and your favorite toppings on a bun.
  • * I mixed mayo, mustard and some finely chopped red onion together to spread on the bun -- delicious!

1 cup finely crushed saltine
1/4 cup chopped green onion
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon creole mustard
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon dried thyme
2 teaspoons rubbed sage

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients.
  • Form into 4-5 equal size patties.
  • Re-chill for 30 minutes.
  • Grill over charcoal.
  • Baste with the same bbq used in the mix when burgers are halfway done.
