GREEN COLORED POPCORN RECIPE

Green Colored Popcorn Recipe image

Provided by Cindy Hopper

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 quarts popped corn
1 1/2 Cups sugar
1/2 Cup light corn syrup
2 Tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar (optional, does make mixture slightly more creamy)
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
green food coloring (I used about 1/8 teaspoon paste/jell color in Green)

Steps:

  • In heavy saucepan on medium heat melt butter then add sugar, corn syrup, cream of tartar and salt. Increase temperature to medium-high and bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly to dissolve sugar. Once mixture boils, add in food coloring and stop stirring. Boil for 5 minutes (Do not stir). The mixture should be about 250-260 degrees. Remove from heat and carefully stir in vanilla and baking soda. Working quickly and while the mixture is foamy, pour mixture over popped corn and gently stir to coat popcorn. Place popcorn into a large roaster or rimmed baking sheet (lined with parchment paper or sprayed with cooking spray) and bake at 200° F for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Check often to make sure it doesn't burn. It should not change colors. It is okay to pull it out early if needed.

COLORED POPCORN

Colored Popcorn image

I've been making this for 30+years. My kids used to look forward to it, especially at holiday time. You can make this any color you want, but for some reason I always did pink (I think it reminded my kids of the packaged "lucky" popcorn). Now my daughter is carrying on the tradition and making it for my grandkids. Recipe comes from an old newspaper clipping. If you plan on storing this, use a zip lock bag or container with a tight fitting lid.

RAINBOW KETTLE CORN RECIPE BY TASTY

Rainbow Kettle Corn Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: sugar, red gel food coloring, orange gel food coloring, yellow gel food coloring, green gel food coloring, blue food coloring, purple gel food coloring, coconut oil, white popcorn kernels, kosher salt

Provided by Rie McClenny

Categories     Snacks

Time 40m

Yield 10 cups

Number Of Ingredients 10

12 tablespoons sugar, divided
red gel food coloring
orange gel food coloring
yellow gel food coloring
green gel food coloring
blue food coloring
purple gel food coloring
6 teaspoons coconut oil, divided
12 tablespoons white popcorn kernels, divided, plus 12 kernels
1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt, divided

Steps:

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Divide the sugar evenly between 6 small bowls, 2 tablespoons per bowl.
  • Dye each bowl of sugar a different color by adding 1-2 drops of red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple food coloring. Stir each bowl with a clean fork until the sugars are sandy in texture. Note: We recommend gel food coloring, as the colors are more stable. Only use 1-2 drops; a little goes a long way.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and 2 popcorn kernels to a medium nonstick saucepan with a lid. Cover and place over medium-high heat. Once the kernels pop, reduce the heat to medium and add 2 tablespoons of popcorn kernels and 1 bowl of colored sugar. Immediately cover the pan and shake to combine. Cook, shaking the pan constantly to ensure that the sugar doesn't burn, while the popcorn pops. Once the pops are more than 3 seconds apart, remove the pot from heat. Carefully remove the lid away from your body and pour the popcorn onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Evenly sprinkle ¼ teaspoon salt over the hot kettle corn. Let the popcorn cool completely, transfer to a bowl. Repeat with the remaining colors, replacing the parchment paper as needed.
  • Combine all of the popcorn in a large bowl. Toss to distribute the colors evenly. Serve immediately, or store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Enjoy!

1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp. whipping cream
1 pkg. (3 oz.) JELL-O Lime Flavor Gelatin
1/4 tsp. green gel food coloring

1 pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate
10 blue, green, purple and/or red ice cream cones
20 candy eyes (1/4 inch)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 300°F.
  • Cover rimmed baking sheet with foil; spray with cooking spray. Place popcorn in large bowl.
  • Cook butter and corn syrup in small saucepan on low heat until butter is melted, stirring occasionally. 1 tablespoon ghee for popping 1/4 cup organic popcorn kernels 1/4 cup olive oil or ghee for coating 1/4 teaspoon pink Himalayan sea salt 2 teaspoons garlic powder Pinch of cayenne powder 1 teaspoon chlorella or spirulina 1/2 teaspoon reishi

Steps:

Transfer the oil mixture to a serving bowl. Pour in the popcorn and toss until it is coated and has a nice green color. 6. Eat up! This recipe comes from the book Super Powders, Adaptongenic Herbs and Mushrooms for Energy, Beauty, Mood and Well-Being, written by Katrine van Wyk, published by The Countryman Press, a division of W.
