ST. PATRICK'S DAY POPCORN



St. Patrick's Day Popcorn image

Everyone's eyes will be smilin' when they see this green popcorn. The emerald color gives this snack instant St. Patrick's Day appeal. -Karen Weber, Salem, Missouri

Yield 6 quarts.

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 quarts popped popcorn
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
8 to 10 drops green food coloring

Steps:

  • Place popcorn in a large roasting pan; keep warm in a 250° oven. Meanwhile, in a large heavy saucepan, combine the sugars, water, corn syrup, vinegar and salt. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil. Cook, stirring occasionally, until a candy thermometer reads 260° (hard-ball stage)., Remove from the heat; stir in butter until melted. Stir in food coloring. Drizzle over warm popcorn and toss to coat. Cool. Break into pieces. Store in an airtight container.

Tantalizing, spicy, and unexpected are the best ways to describe this Salsa Verde Popcorn...and of course, crazy delicious!

Number Of Ingredients 11

8 cups popped popcorn
2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon Green Superfood powder
0.5 teaspoon onion powder
0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
.25 teaspoon jalapeno powder (use more or less depending on spice tolerance)
.25 teaspoon ground coriander
1 packet True Lime powder (.8 grams)
.13 teaspoon fine sea salt (1/8th teaspoon)
pinch white pepper (use more for spicier popcorn)

Steps:

  • Mix the green superfood, onion powder, garlic powder, jalapeño powder, ground coriander, lime juice powder, salt and pepper together in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Place popcorn in a large bowl. Sprinkle popcorn with half of the seasoning mixture, and toss.
  • Drizzle with oil and melted butter, then sprinkle with remaining seasoning mixture. Toss to combine. Serve immediately.
