MELTY GRILLED MUSHROOM SWISS BURGER



Melty Grilled Mushroom Swiss Burger image

Vegetable oil, for grill
6 tbsp. mayonnaise
1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
1 tbsp. red wine vinegar
1/4 c. extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp. fresh thyme leaves, roughly chopped
1 tsp. minced garlic
3/4 lb. baby bella mushrooms
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
4 brioche buns
8 slices Sargento® Creamery Sliced Baby Swiss Natural Cheese
1 c. baby arugula

Steps:

  • Prepare a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the grill with vegetable oil. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise and dijon. Set aside.
  • In another small bowl, combine the vinegar, 2 tablespoons of the olive oil, thyme, and garlic. Thread the mushrooms onto three 10-inch skewers (if wood, soak for 10 minutes in water before using). Brush mushrooms all over with oil mixture and season with salt and pepper.
  • Shape beef into 4 equally-sized patties, about 4-inches wide. Season both sides with salt and the pepper. Using your thumb, press a shallow indent into the center of each burger. Brush cut sides of buns with remaining olive oil. Set both aside.
  • Place buns on grill cut side down and grill until lightly toasted, about 30 seconds. Remove to a plate and keep warm.
  • Grill mushrooms until golden and tender, turning a few times, about 10 minutes. Remove to a plate and let sit until skewers are cool enough to handle. Remove mushrooms and thinly slice.
  • Meanwhile, grill patties until crust develops on bottom side, about 5 minutes. Flip and cook 4 minutes more. Top each burger with two slices of cheese, cover the grill, and cook until cheese is melted and meat is no longer pink in center, about 2 minutes more. Remove burgers to a plate.
  • To assemble, spread bottom buns with mayonnaise mixture. Top with arugula and a patty. Pile mushrooms on top of patty and sandwich with top bun. Serve immediately.

½ teaspoon seasoned meat tenderizer
salt and pepper to taste
2 teaspoons butter
2 (4 ounce) cans sliced mushrooms, drained
2 tablespoons soy sauce
4 slices Swiss cheese
6 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Prepare a grill for medium heat. Lightly oil the grate.
  • Divide the ground beef into 6 patties. Season with meat tenderizer, salt and pepper. Set aside.
  • Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and soy sauce; cook and stir until browned. Set aside and keep warm.
  • Grill the patties for about 6 minutes per side, or until cooked through. Divide the mushroom mixture evenly amongst the burgers and top each one with a slice of Swiss cheese. Cover the grill for about 1 minute to allow the cheese to melt. Remove from the grill and serve on hamburger buns.

Steps:

  • Heat grill to medium-high heat.
  • Brush vegetables evenly with half the dressing. Grill, dressing sides down, 2 to 3 min. or until mushrooms start to soften. Turn vegetables; brush with remaining dressing. Grill 2 to 3 min. or until vegetables are tender. Remove onions from grill.

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
¼ cup baby spinach
¼ cup sliced fresh mushrooms
salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 slices bread
1 tablespoon softened butter
2 slices Swiss cheese

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, and cook and stir mushrooms and spinach until mushrooms are tender and spinach is wilted, about 3 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper; set aside.
  • Spread one side of each bread slice with butter. Place one bread slice, buttered side down, into the skillet. Top with the Swiss cheese, then spread the mushroom mixture on top of the cheese. Cover with the second slice of bread, buttered side up. Cook until the sandwich is golden brown on both sides, turning once. Cut in half and serve hot.

1 (4 1/2 ounce) can Green Giant sliced mushrooms
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
4 slices processed swiss cheese (no holes)
4 (1/4 lb) hamburger patty
1/2 teaspoon Accent seasoning
1/2 teaspoon Lawry's Seasoned Salt
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

Steps:

  • Mix the first three ingredients together, put on low heat and let simmer.
  • Mix the Accent, Lawry's and pepper together and put in a shaker.
  • Season the patties with this and fry or grill until done-dont press on the patties-you must resist this impulse!
  • Put patty onto a bun, then the swiss, then the sauce and you're done.

1 package (8 oz) sliced fresh mushrooms
3 tablespoons soy sauce
3 large garlic cloves, sliced or finely chopped
1 1/2 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
6 slices Swiss cheese
6 burger buns, split
2 medium tomatoes, sliced
1 medium onion, sliced

Steps:

  • Heat gas or charcoal grill to medium heat.
  • In 12-inch nonstick skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms, soy sauce and garlic; cook until mushrooms are tender and liquid evaporates. Set aside; keep warm.
  • Shape beef into 6 (1/2 inch thick) patties. Sprinkle with garlic powder, salt and pepper. Place patties on grill; cover grill. Cook with medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F. Place cheese slices on top of burgers; cover and cook 1 to 2 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.
  • Place burgers in buns. Divide cooked mushrooms evenly over burgers. Top with tomatoes and onion.
