HAMBURGER HELPER CHEESEBURGER CASSEROLE
A delicious, hearty casserole that goes together in minutes with the help of Hamburger Helper!

Steps:
- Brown beef and chopped onion in a skillet; then drain
- Sprinkle the beef with the garlic powder, pepper and Italian seasoning and mix in well
- Stir in the hot water, milk, sauce mix and pasta; heat to boiling
- Reduce heat and add the diced tomatoes and brown sugar; cover and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until pasta is tender.
- Add half of the French fried onions to the mixture and 1/2 cup of the cheese
- Transfer to a 9×11 inch baking dish
- Sprinkle on the remaining cheese and top with the remaining French fried onions
- Broil on low for 2-4 minutes or until cheese is melted and French fried onions are crispy and golden

We like Hamburger Helper but we don't like the MSG or other icky ingredients! You can prepare "sauce packets" ahead of time to save time. Increase/alter seasonings and/or cheese to suit your tastes!

Steps:
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet. Drain.
- Add hot water, milk, pasta and "sauce packet" ingredients.
- Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer 12 minutes or until pasta is tender.
- In the last few minutes of cook time, add cheese, stir and re-cover.
- When pasta is tender and cheese is melted, remove heat and uncover.
- Let stand about 5 minutes. Sauce will thicken as it stands.
- Top with additional cheese if you like.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook elbow macaroni in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, 8 minutes. Drain.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease. Add ground beef back to skillet and mix in tomatoes; season with salt and pepper. Cook and stir mixture until tomatoes are heated through, about 5 minutes.
- Transfer beef mixture to a casserole dish; top with cooked macaroni. Spread cream cheese over macaroni and sprinkle Cheddar cheese over cream cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is melted and bubbling, about 45 minutes. Cool casserole for 15 minutes before serving.

VEGETARIAN CHEESEBURGER CASSEROLE FROM SCRATCH
No canned soup in this one, though you could use a can of mushroom soup and a can of celery soup in place of the powdered milk mixture. I cobbled together a few different recipes and made some change of my own to create this. It's like a much tastier, much healthier hamburger helper.

- 1. "Brown" the veggie crumbles and onions in a skillet.
- 2. Mix together second group of ingredients.
- 3. Combine crumbles, soup mixture, and egg noodles in a medium casserole dish.
- 4. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, stirring a couple times during the baking process to keep the top noodles from getting crunchy.
- **You can add more milk to the soup mixture if you like it wetter, but it should be pretty close to a condensed soup consistency.
