This recipe came from a little mom 'n' pop restaurant in Lincoln Nebraska called "Tastee's". They sold some of their most popular recipes in little booklets for $2.95 back in the 70's, and this is exactly how it was stated in the booklet. This dip is what they served with their onion chips, but it's also good with regular chips or veggies.

1 (16 ounce) container large curd cottage cheese
1/4 cup milk
1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
1 dash pepper
1 dash red pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Accent seasoning (MSG)
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
0.5 (1 1/4 ounce) envelope onion soup mix

Steps:

  • Place cottage cheese in a bowl, add half the milk.
  • Mix thoroughly with an electric mixer, adding remaining milk while mixing, until the cottage cheese has lost it's identity.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and mix quickly until the sour cream has had time to whip up to its limit.
  • Be sure not to whip too long as it will start to drop in volume.

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the refried beans, chilies, 1 teaspoon chili powder and 1 teaspoon cumin. Spread over a 14-in. platter. In another bowl, mash the avocados; add 1/4 cup onion, lemon juice, sugar, celery salt and cayenne. Spread over the bean layer., Combine 1 cup salsa, sour cream, mayonnaise, paprika, garlic powder, pepper sauce, oregano and remaining onion, cumin and chili powder. 1 lime, juiced
2 roma tomatoes, diced
¼ cup red onion, chopped
¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon butter
1 clove scallion clove, chopped
2 cups cheddar cheese
2 cups monterey jack cheese
½ cup milk
1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • For the guacamole: Mash avocados with the lime juice. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix thoroughly.

1 pound process cheese (Velveeta), cubed
1 bottle (8 ounces) taco sauce
1/4 cup water
1 medium tomato, chopped
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 can (2-1/4 ounces) sliced ripe olives, drained
Tortilla chips

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, cook beef, onion and pepper until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add the cheese, taco sauce and water; stir until cheese is melted. Stir in the tomato, green pepper and olives. Serve warm with chips.
