This easy Homemade White Queso Dip Recipe is delicious and creamy! Made with American cheese you find at your deli, green chilies and more.

2 teaspoons butter
1/4 cup finely chopped white onions
1 pound White American cheese
4 ounces green chilies (1 can - do not drain)
4 ounces heavy cream

Steps:

  • Melt two teaspoons of butter in medium-sized frying pan. Add onions, cook until they become translucent.
  • Place the cheese and heavy cream together in a medium-sized pan and heat over low-medium heat until the cheese melts.
  • After the cheese has melted, add green chilis and onions and stir well.

1 pound white American cheese, cubed
¾ cup half-and-half
¼ cup diced pickled jalapeno peppers
1 teaspoon pickled jalapeno pepper juice
⅛ teaspoon ground cumin
⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Combine American cheese and half-and-half in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high power in 1 1/2 minute intervals, stirring in between each interval, until melted and creamy, 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Stir in jalapenos, jalapeno juice, cumin, and cayenne. Microwave for 30 seconds. Stir and serve immediately.

This creamy white queso dip uses only a handful of ingredients and is ready to party in just ten minutes.

Yield 4 to 6 servings (about 1 1/2 cups)

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
8 ounces white American cheese, shredded (about 2 cups)
Two 5-ounce cans evaporated milk
Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
Finely diced jalapeno, for garnish
Finely diced red onion, for garnish
Tortilla chips, for serving

Steps:

  • Whisk together the cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder and cumin in a medium saucepan. Add the cheese and whisk to combine. Pour in the evaporated milk and whisk to combine. Set over medium-low heat and cook, whisking constantly, until the cheese is melted and the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 5 minutes.
  • Transfer the queso dip to a warm serving dish. Top with cilantro, jalapeno and red onions. Serve with tortilla chips.

1 jalapeno (seeded and finely diced)
2 Tablespoons yellow onion (finely diced)
1 Tablespoons red pepper (finely diced)
1 Tablespoon butter (I use salted)
1 cup half and half
1 lb. American cheese (high quality-see notes)
¼ cup Pico De Gallo
¼ cup Cilantro (roughly chopped)

Steps:

  • Note: Heating this over a double boiler (which you can easily make yourself at home) is the best way to achieve a consistently even temperature for super smooth results. You can then transfer it to a cast iron skillet, serving bowl, or mini warmer prior to serving. (Affiliate links to double boiler and mini warmer in Notes section below.)
  • Sauté the peppers and onions in 1 Tbsp. butter over medium heat until softened, about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • Add the half and half to a skillet or double boiler over medium heat. Gradually add the American cheese, (feel free to cut them into smaller squares for easier melting). Stir the cheese as it melts.
  • Once melted and smooth, stir in the sautéed vegetables. Remove from heat. Garnish with Pico De Gallo and cilantro and serve immediately.

Have you ever been to a mexican restaurant or burrito joint and tried that tasty white cheese dip? After much experimentation, I finally have a recipe that is on par with the cheese dip you can get there, and you're sure to love it too. This beats anything you can buy prepackaged in a store! If you do not have a double boiler, you can improvise by using a metal mixing bowl over a saucepan.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb white American cheese (from deli, get a good brand)
1 cup half-and-half
2 tablespoons diced jalapenos
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red pepper
1 dash chili powder

Steps:

  • In a double boiler on low heat (enough to keep a gentle boil), add the cheese and some of the half and half.
  • Stir mixture until cheese begins to evenly melt, adding half and half to result in the consistency you desire. (It should be thin enough to flow well, but thick enough to stay on a chip).
  • Add diced jalapenos to mixture, according to your preference. If they are from a jar, add a teaspoon or two of the juice as well.
  • Begin to add the spices. Start with the cumin and black pepper. Add red pepper gradually, tasting along the way. A little goes a long way, so be sure you don't make it too hot. I use a bit more than 1/4 tsp, you may use more or less.
  • Add a pinch of chili powder, and serve hot with tortillas or chips.
  • Leftovers can be microwaved (add more half and half or water to keep consistency). Don't worry about yellowing from day to day (due to spices/cheese), it will be good for 4-5 days.
