Whiskey Honey Lemon Cough Syrup is an old fashion homemade cough syrup recipe and natural remedy to help calm coughs using only three pantry ingredients.

1 tbsp whiskey
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp lemon juice (fresh or lemon concentrate)
1 cup warm water or herbal tea (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix whiskey, honey and lemon juice together and stir well.
  • Dosage for adults is 1 -2 tablespoons every 4-6 hours or as needed for cough. We like to drink it straight up. However, if you desire, you can place ingredients in either a cup of warm water or herbal tea, mix and sip on it. If you like it sweeter, add a little more honey to the mix.
  • Mix 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon lemon juice together. DO NOT ADD Whiskey. Mix together and can be taken straight up or mix in a little warm water. Do not give honey to children less than 12 months of age.

1/2 cup raw honey
1 lemon cut into wedges, or sliced into coins
handful of fresh garden thyme, or organic dried thyme

Steps:

  • Layer the thyme and lemon into the mason jar and cover with honey. Make sure the lemon is completely submerged under the honey.
  • Remove any bubbles from within the jar using an air bubble remover or butter knife.
  • Place the honey, lemon, thyme syrup in the refrigerator. The honey will naturally draw the liquid from the lemons creating a water-like texture.

10 small garlic cloves (or 5 large)
1/2 cup honey
water (optional)
lemon juice (optional)

Steps:

  • Peel garlic cloves, put into a jar and cover with honey.
  • Set in warm place for 2 weeks or more until the garlic turns opaque.
  • Take 1 teaspoonful as needed to get relief.
  • Dilute with a little water or lemon juice to help it go down easier. Children like it better this way too.
  • Variation for sore throat:.
  • 2 teaspoons honey.
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice or to taste.
  • 1 cup water.
  • Boil water, add honey and lemon. Drink to relieve sore throat.
  • Another good thing to do when you have a sore throat is:.
  • Gargle with hot salt water.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to 8 ounces of water 4-5 times a day.
