Make Perfect Instant Pot Rice (Pressure Cooker Rice) with this easy Foolproof method. Fragrant and fluffy white rice ready in 15 minutes. Set it and forget it, no need to tend the pot. No more uncooked, burnt, or mushy rice!

1 cup (230g) Jasmine rice
1 cup (250ml) cold water
¼ - ½ teaspoon fine sea salt or table salt (optional)

Steps:

  • Rinse Rice: Rinse rice under cold water by gently scrubbing the rice with your fingertips in a circling motion. Pour out the milky water, and continue to rinse until water is clear. Be sure to drain really well.
  • Pressure Cook Rice: Add 1 cup (230g) rice and 1 cup (250ml) cold water in Instant Pot Pressure Cooker. Close the lid, turn Venting Knob to Sealing Position. Pressure Cook at High Pressure for 3 minutes, then Natural Release for 10 minutes. Turn Venting Knob to Venting position to release the remaining pressure. Open the lid quickly.
  • Optional Seasoning: Add salt to the rice for seasoning.
  • Fluff & Serve: Fluff rice with a fork, then serve warm. Enjoy~

Instant Pot rice is a hands off way to cook fluffy white rice! This easy pressure cooker rice recipe helps to make dinner prep easy!

2 cups long grain white rice (such as basmati or jasmine)
2 cups water
½ teaspoon Kosher salt (optional)

Steps:

  • Place rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cool water. Drain rice and transfer to Instant Pot.
  • Add water to the pot, and salt, if desired. Stir.
  • Close the Instant Pot lid and turn the steam release valve to the sealing position.
  • Use the Pressure Cook or Manual function to cook at high pressure for 4 minutes. The Instant Pot will take about 10 minutes to reach pressure and then the cook time will begin counting down.
  • When the cook time ends, allow the pressure to release naturally for at least 15 minutes by leaving the Instant Pot alone.
  • Carefully turn the steam release valve to the venting position to quick release any remaining pressure. When the pin drops down, open the Instant Pot lid.
  • Fluff rice with a fork and serve.

1½ cups uncooked Japanese short-grain rice ((300 g or 360 ml for 4 servings; yields roughly 3½ US cups of steamed rice))
1½ cups water ((if you are making rice for sushi recipes, deduct 5-10% of this water measurement))
2 rice cooker cups uncooked Japanese short-grain rice ((300 g or 360 ml for 4 servings; yields roughly 3½ US cups of steamed rice))

Steps:

  • Before You Start: One US cup (240 ml, 200 g) of uncooked rice yields 2⅓ US cups (420 g) of cooked rice, enough for roughly 2 servings. One US cup of cooked rice weighs 6.3 oz or 180 g. A typical Japanese rice bowl holds 150 g of steamed rice and an onigiri rice ball weighs about 110 g.
  • Measure: Overfill a 1 US cup measure with uncooked short-grain white rice and level it off. Put the rice in a large bowl. Repeat until you have the measured amount of rice needed.
