Italian Chicken Burgers image

Tasty chicken burgers. Great on the grill. Can be pan fried or even baked (for those winter nights when it's too cold to grill outside!)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb ground chicken (or turkey)
1 egg
1/4 cup parmesan cheese (the shaker kind)
1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning
1 -2 garlic clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon seasoning salt (optional)
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, finely grated

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients until well blended.
  • Form into patties.
  • Grill or cook until juices no longer pink inside.
  • When I have these on a bun, I use pasta or pizza sauce as a condiment instead of the usual burger toppings.

Burger Patties:
1 lb ground chicken
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
1 egg lightly beaten
1 cup seasoned panko
Additional Ingredients:
Fresh basil
Fresh tomato sliced
Sargento® Blends™ 5 Cheese Italian Slices
Hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Combine all the burger patty ingredients in a bowl and stir well to combine. Shape into 4 equally divided patties. Allow the patties to rest in the refrigerator at least 1 hour before grilling. You may make up to a day in advance.
  • Heat your grill (gas or charcoal) to between 350-375 F. Grill the patties 4-5 minutes per side until a golden crust forms. Add the cheese slices in the last minute of cooking to melt.
  • Toast the buns on the grill if desired over indirect heat, then place the patties with the melted cheese on the buns.
  • Top with fresh basil and sliced tomato and enjoy!

These delicious chicken burgers are delicious and out-of-the-ordinary. Served on crusty garlic bread, the aroma will make your mouth water.

1 lb ground chicken
2 tsp basil, dried
1 tsp thyme, dried
1 tsp oregano, dried
1 ½ tbsp sun-dried tomatoes, minced
½ onion(s), medium, minced
½ cup oats
1 egg(s), beaten
1 red pepper(s)
2 oz Asiago cheese, grated
1 loaf garlic bread, prepared

Steps:

  • Mix ground chicken, herbs, tomatoes, onions, oatmeal and egg. Shape into four rectangles about ¾ inch (2 cm) thick. With the back of a teaspoon, make a depression in the center of each burger. This helps cook the center of the burger more quickly.
  • Preheat barbecue to medium heat. Put burgers and red pepper on the grill.
  • Cook burgers for about 7-9 minutes per side or until a thermometer inserted in the thickest part reads 165°F (74°C).
  • Grill pepper until skin is blackened on all sides. Remove pepper from the grill and cool slightly. Peel off skin, remove stem and seeds, and cut pepper in four.
  • Heat garlic bread according to package instructions and cut four slices slightly wider than the burgers. Serve burgers on garlic bread, topped with roasted red pepper and Asiago cheese.

A nice break from typical hamburgers and much healthier for you. These chicken burgers are flavorful, fairly simple to make, and quite delicious. I serve these burgers on chive biscuits with tomato chutney. Eat to your heart's content!

1 onion, chopped
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 cup fresh sliced mushrooms
1 tomato, seeded and chopped
2 carrots, chopped
2 pounds ground chicken
1 egg
½ cup fresh bread crumbs
1 tablespoon Old Bay (tm) Seasoning
kosher salt to taste
black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil grate.
  • Lightly spray a saute pan with cooking or oil spray over medium heat. Saute the onion with the garlic first, then the bell pepper, then the mushrooms, tomatoes and carrots, all to desired tenderness. Set aside and allow all vegetables to cool completely.
  • In a large bowl, combine the chicken and vegetables. Add the egg, bread crumbs and seasonings to taste. Mix all together well and form into 8 patties.
  • Grill over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes per side, or to desired doneness.
