BREAD MACHINE - ITALIAN HERB BREAD

Bread Machine - Italian Herb Bread image

This bread machine Italian herb bread creates a great tasting Italian-style sandwich bread. It is perfect for Italian-themed sandwiches such as chicken parmesan sandwiches, porchetta sandwiches, meatball sandwiches and mozzarella, tomato & basil sandwiches (also known as Caprese sandwiches). This Italian herb bread machine recipe creates a 2 lb bread loaf.

Categories     Appetizer     Lunch     Sandwich

Time 3h5m

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 1/8 Cups Milk (lukewarm) (- 259 milliliters)
4 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter ((softened) - 57 grams)
3 Cups Bread Flour ((not all purpose flour) - 360 grams)
1 1/2 Tablespoons White Granulated Sugar (- 19 grams)
1 Tablespoon Italian Herbs Seasoning (- 15 milliliters)
1/2 Teaspoon Onion Powder ((optional) - 2.5 milliliters)
1 Teaspoon Salt (- 5 milliliters)
1 Teaspoon Bread Machine Yeast (- 5 milliliters)
1 1/2 Cups Milk ((lukewarm))
6 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter ((sliced & softened))
4 Cups Bread Flour
2 Tablespoons Sugar
1 1/2 Tablespoons Italian Herb Seasoning
1 Teaspoon Onion Powder ((optional))
1 1/2 Teaspoons Salt
1 1/2 Teaspoons Bread Machine Yeast

Steps:

  • Bread Machine settings - 1.5 or 2 pound loaf, light color and "basic" bread setting
  • Make sure the bread machine is unplugged and remove the bread pan from the bread machine.
  • Pour the milk into the bread pan and then add the other ingredients (including the Italian herb seasoning). Place the bread machine yeast in last and the yeast should not touch the liquid (until the bread machine is turned on and the ingredients start to be mixed together).
  • Place the bread pan back in the bread machine and plug in the bread machine.
  • Enter the correct settings into your bread machine (i.e. 1.5 or 2 lb, light color & basic setting) and press the "start" button.
  • After the bread machine has finished baking the bread, unplug the bread machine. Remove the bread from the bread pan and place it on a cooling rack. Use oven mitts when removing the bread pan from the bread machine as it will be very hot!
  • In our Sunbeam bread machine, the baking takes about 3 hours for a 2 pound bread (and 2:53 hours for a 1.5 lb bread loaf) at the light color & basic bread settings. However, some machines can differ and you don't want to be away from home when the bread machine "finished" alarm goes off! Your bread machine should show you the length of the baking time after you have entered the settings into the machine. This will allow you to know when to be in the kitchen in order to remove the bread.

Italian Herb Tomato Bread image

An easy savory quick bread combining fresh tomatoes, Italian herbs, garlic, and cheese. Bake up some summer right in your kitchen with this tomato bread.

Provided by Julie (Bunsen Burner Bakery)

Categories     Quick Breads

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 cups (360 grams) all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1/3 cup (66 grams) vegetable oil
1/3 cup (76 grams) milk
1 cup (113 grams) grated cheddar
3 cloves garlic, roughly chopped
1 pound (454 grams) fresh tomatoes
large handful of fresh basil and oregano

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 °F. Grease an 8.5 x 4.5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir in the egg, oil, and milk, followed by the grated cheese. The batter will be very thick.
  • Combine the chopped garlic, tomatoes, basil, and oregano in a food processor. Using a series of 10-15 one-second pulses, chop the tomatoes and garlic until no large pieces remain, but mixture is not completely smooth.
  • Fold the tomato and garlic mixture into the batter. Resulting batter will still be thick, but should be fully moist. If dry patches of flour remain, stir in an additional 2-3 tablespoons of milk. If batter is quite wet, stir in an additional 2-3 tablespoons of flour.
  • Pour (scoop) the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake 45-50 minutes, until a tester inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
  • Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to continue cooling. Enjoy while still warm.

Italian Herb & Sun-Dried Tomato Focaccia image

Focaccia is a flat oven-baked Italian bread made with different herbs, seasonings & toppings! You could add olives, crushed red pepper, shredded cheese, sliced roma tomatoes, caramelized onions, fresh garlic etc. It's really not difficult to make, tastes wonderful, and the aroma of fresh baked Focaccia is amazing! Try this...

Provided by Lisa Ann DiNunzio

Categories     Vegetable Appetizers

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 1/2 c cups warm water
3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (plus additional for drizzling)
1 1/4 tsp sea salt
3 1/2 c unbleached all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp instant yeast
1 tsp dried oregano (plus additional for topping dough)
1/2 tsp dried basil
1 tsp garlic powder
1/4 c shredded parmesan cheese
10 sun-dried tomatoes in olive oil, drained and chopped, optional

Steps:

  • 1. Lightly grease bottom and sides of a 9 x13 baking pan with 1 - 2 tablespoons of olive oil. In a large bowl combine all ingredients except cheese and sun-dried tomatoes, and beat at high speed with an electric mixer or wooden spoon for 60 seconds, batter will be sticky. Scoop batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly, cover with plastic wrap, let rise at room temperature for 1 hour or until it becomes puffy. The last 10-15 minutes that the dough is rising, preheat oven to 375°. Gently poke the dough all over with your fingers, but do not poke through the dough, just create small "dimples". Drizzle dough lightly with olive oil, and sprinkle with shredded Parmesan cheese, additional dried herbs of your choice, and sun-dried tomatoes, if desired. Bake the bread until it's golden brown, 35 to 40 minutes. Remove from oven, wait 5 minutes, then take Focaccia out of the pan and place onto a rack. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature. *Note: You could add a variety of toppings such as; sliced olives, crushed red pepper, shredded mozzarella cheese, sliced roma tomatoes, caramelized onions, fresh garlic etc.
