Time 3h20m

Yield 20

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
1 ⅓ cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 ½ teaspoons olive oil
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
2 tablespoons cornmeal

Steps:

  • Place flour, brown sugar, warm water, salt, olive oil and yeast in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select dough cycle; press Start.
  • Deflate the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Form dough into two loaves. Place the loaves seam side down on a cutting board generously sprinkled with cornmeal. Cover the loaves with a damp cloth and let rise, until doubled in volume about 40 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • In a small bowl, beat together egg and 1 tablespoon water. Brush the risen loaves with egg mixture. Make a single long, quick cut down the center of the loaves with a sharp knife. Gently shake the cutting board to make sure that the loaves are not sticking. If they stick, use a spatula or pastry knife to loosen. Slide the loaves onto a baking sheet with one quick but careful motion.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until loaves sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.

BREAD MACHINE PIZZA DOUGH (ITALIAN HERBS)

Bread Machine Pizza Dough (Italian Herbs) image

This bread machine pizza dough recipe allows you to easily make delicious homemade pizza. Why buy stale frozen pizza or expensive delivery pizza... when you can make great pizza at home! This bread maker pizza dough recipe is a very simple & easy to make. Visit BreadDad.com for more great bread machine recipes.

Provided by Bread Dad

Categories     Dinner     Lunch

Time 1h40m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/4 Cups Water ((lukewarm))
3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
3 1/2 Cups Flour ((all-purpose flour or bread flour))
1 Tablespoon White Granulated Sugar
1 1/2 Teaspoons Italian Herb Seasoning
1 Teaspoon Salt
2 Teaspoons Bread Machine Yeast

Steps:

  • Unplug your bread machine and remove the bread pan.
  • Place the water, olive oil and then the rest of the ingredients into the bread pan. You can make a little indent on top of the flour in order to avoid the yeast falling into the water (until the machine starts). Do not combine the salt with the yeast (as the salt can kill the yeast). Place the yeast & salt in separate parts of the bread pan.
  • Place the bread pan (with ingredients) into the bread machine and then plug in the machine.
  • Put your machine on the Dough setting and press the start button. In our Sunbeam bread machine, the kneading & rising on the dough setting takes about approximately 1:30 hours.
  • When your bread machine has finished, unplug the machine & pour the dough onto a cutting board. Wear oven mitts (as the bread pan/bread machine may be hot). Sprinkle some flour on the cutting board (before you pour the dough) in order to avoid the dough sticking to the cutting board.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Shape the pizza dough into a round pizza shape. Don't press down on the edges of the pizza. You want a little rim around the pizza. The higher edges will help to contain the sauce and cheese as the pizza bakes.
  • The pizza dough can be used to create one large pizza or two small/medium pizzas.
  • Place the pizza-shaped dough on a non-stick baking sheet or pizza pan.
  • Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce (or pizza sauce) on the pizza dough.
  • Sprinkle on a layer of shredded cheese.
  • Add some already cooked toppings (i.e. fried Italian sausages). These toppings should be pre-cooked because the pizza baking process may not cook them properly or safely.
  • Bake pizza in the oven at 400 degrees for 18-22 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Baking time will vary due to the amount & variety of toppings and size & depth of the pizza dough. Check the pizza frequently after 15 minutes to ensure that it has been baked to perfection!
  • Wear oven mitts to remove pizza from the oven.
  • Place finished pizza on cutting board and cut into pizza slices. Enjoy!

Time 1h52m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/4 Cups Water ((lukewarm))
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
3 1/2 Cups Flour ((all-purpose flour or bread flour))
1 Tablespoon White Granulated Sugar
1 1/2 Teaspoons Italian Herb Seasoning ((optional))
1 Teaspoon Salt
2 Teaspoons Bread Machine Yeast
1 Teaspoon Large Crystal Salt ((to sprinkle on top of the breadsticks before baking))

Steps:

  • Place the water, olive oil and then the rest of the ingredients into the bread pan. You can make a little indent on top of the flour in order to avoid the yeast falling into the water (until the machine starts). Do not combine the salt with the yeast (as the salt can kill the yeast). Place the yeast & salt in separate parts of the bread pan.
  • Place the bread pan (with ingredients) into your unplugged bread machine and then plug in the machine.
  • Put your machine on the Dough setting and press the start button. In our Sunbeam bread machine, the kneading & rising on the dough setting takes about approximately 1:30 hours.
  • When your bread machine has finished, unplug the machine & pour the dough onto a cutting board. Wear oven mitts when handling the bread pan as it may be hot. However, first sprinkle some flour on the cutting board (before you pour the dough) in order to help prevent the dough from sticking to the cutting board.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Shape the breadstick dough by either cutting into thin strips or rolling into thin tubes. See the tips section below for more information on how to shape your breadsticks.
  • Place the dough breadsticks onto a nonstick baking sheet. Cover them loosely with plastic wrap, wet thin towel, etc. to keep dust off & to prevent the dough from drying out. Let the dough rise for 30 minutes on the baking sheet. The dough should roughly double in width during this time.
  • After the dough has risen and before you put the baking sheet in the oven, use a small pastry bush to coat the top of each dough breadstick with a thin layer of olive oil. Then sprinkle some large salt crystals (i.e. sea salt or coarse kosher salt) on top of each dough breadstick.
  • Place the baking sheet in the oven for 12-15 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven when finished and let the breadsticks cool for 1 or 2 minutes on a cooling rack.
  • For best results, serve & eat while the breadsticks are still slightly warm.

NEW YORK ITALIAN PIZZA DOUGH

New York Italian Pizza Dough image

A really wet, sticky pizza dough that bakes up to perfection! Simple ingredients and technique in this dough make your pizza crust authentic, crispy and chewy just like your favorite NY brick oven joint. This recipe makes enough for three 10- to 12-inch pizzas, two 12- to 14-inch pizzas, one 16- to 18-inch pizza, or 6 to 8 small single serving stromboli.

Provided by ItsJeanettic

Categories     Bread     Pizza Dough and Crust Recipes

Time 10h36m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 ½ cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 teaspoons salt
4 ½ cups bread flour
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
¼ cup bread flour, or more if needed
1 tablespoon olive oil

Steps:

  • Pour the warm water into the pan of a bread machine, sprinkle in the salt, and add the flour to the pan so the flour sits on top of the water. Make a hole in the top of the flour, and spoon the yeast into the hole. Let the mixture sit for 20 minutes to moisten the flour. Set the bread machine to the knead setting, and knead the dough for about 10 minutes. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, and knead in 1/4 cup more flour or as needed, adding the flour about 2 tablespoons at a time, to make a wet, sticky, but elastic dough. The dough should be "as soft as a baby's bottom." Form the dough into a round shape.
  • Wipe the inside of a large bowl with olive oil, and place the round ball of dough into the bowl. Turn the dough over a couple of times so the dough picks up a thin coating of oil. Cover with a cloth, and refrigerate the dough for 10 hours or overnight.
  • The next day, allow the dough to come to room temperature before rolling out on a floured surface and adding toppings as desired. Roll the dough out thin with a thicker edge before adding toppings.
  • Place a pizza stone into oven, dust it with a little flour, and preheat oven to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C). Bake the pizza on the stone in the preheated oven until the bottom of the crust is browned, 6 to 8 minutes.

PIZZA DOUGH RECIPE FOR THE BREAD MACHINE

Pizza Dough Recipe for the Bread Machine image

For years we've had pizza night once a month. The Man of The House makes the pizza dough in the bread machine. Here's the pizza dough recipe and exactly how we make our homemade pizza.

Provided by Marsha Perry

Categories     Bread Machine Recipes

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 ¼ Cups water
1 ½ Tablespoons olive oil
3 ¾ Cups bread flour
1 ½ Tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoons salt
1 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast yeast

Steps:

  • Follow the instructions that came with your bread machine in terms of what ingredients to add first. Use the dough setting.
  • Check on the dough after five or ten minutes of kneading. It should be a smooth, round ball.
  • Separate the dough into two balls. Let the balls of dough rest for at least 5 minutes. Then use a rolling pin to form two rounds of dough.
  • Move the pizza crusts onto parchment paper.
  • Put the pizza stone into the oven and set the temperature to 545 degrees. If your oven doesn't go over 500 degrees, set the oven for about 5 degrees under its maximum temperature.
  • Lightly brush olive oil on the crust to seal it. Then spread the sauce over the pizza avoiding the edges.
  • Cover the pizza with pepperoni.
  • Add the cheese of your choice
  • Use a peel to move the pizza and the parchment paper onto the pizza stone. (You'll cook the pizzas one at a time.)
  • Keep an eye on the pizza and watch for the cheese to melt. That's when it's done. In our oven that takes between 6 and 8 minutes.
  • When the pizza is done use the peel to remove the pizza and parchment paper from the oven. Slide the pizza onto the cutting board and discard the parchment paper.
  • Slice and enjoy!
  • Follow the instructions that came with your bread machine in terms of what ingredients to add first. Use the dough setting.
  • Check on the dough after five or ten minutes of kneading. Pop the top of the bread machine and look at the dough. It should be a smooth, round ball.
  • Once the dough is done, roll it out and make two rectangles. Lay the dough in the cookie sheets.
  • Brush the pizza dough with olive oil to seal it. Add your pizza ingredients.
  • The cheese is next.
  • Once the pizza is assembled, bake it for 25 minutes at 400 degrees.
