This is a great dressing just like the kind they serve in the Japanese steakhouses.

1 cup olive oil
¼ cup soy sauce
1 lemon, juiced
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons minced fresh ginger root
1 teaspoon prepared Dijon-style mustard
2 teaspoons honey
ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, mustard, honey and pepper. Once these are thoroughly combined, add the oil in a steady stream, whisking constantly. When all of the oil is incorporated into the dressing, pour into a glass jar and chill until serving.

1/4 cup rice wine vinegar or 1/4 cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (1 inch) knob fresh ginger, grated (2 teaspoons)
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1/3 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped sweet onion
1/2 cup canola oil

Steps:

  • Combine the vinegar, tomato paste, soy sauce, salt, ginger, sugar, sesame oil, celery, and onion in a blender. Pulse several times, until the celery and onion are finely chopped. When the blender running, slowing drizzle in the canola oil.

3 tablespoons minced carrots
2 tablespoons ginger, minced
3 tablespoons celery, minced
2 tablespoons finely chopped lemons (some rind)
1/2 cup soy sauce
3/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup seasoned rice vinegar
1/2 cup water
1 medium onion, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
2 tablespoons ketchup

Steps:

  • Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until emulsified.
  • Stir and shake before each use.

1/2 cup peanut oil
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup water
1 small onion, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 head iceberg lettuce, coarsely chopped
2 medium tomatoes, diced

Steps:

  • Combine the dressing ingredients in a blender jar or food processor and blend until smooth. Just before serving, place the lettuce and tomatoes in a large bowl and toss with the dressing.
  • Note: If making this in advance, then make the dressing as above, cover, and chill. Toss with the lettuce and tomatoes just before serving.
