Categories     Quick and Easy     Sides

Time 25m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 tablespoons (45ml) soy sauce (see note)
3 tablespoons (45ml) water
2 tablespoons (30g) sugar
1 teaspoon (5ml) fish sauce
1 medium clove garlic (5g), finely grated
2 tablespoons (30ml) vegetable oil
10 ounces (285g) small Yukon Gold potatoes, rinsed and halved (see note)
1 tablespoon (15ml) toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon (6g) toasted sesame seeds

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, water, sugar, fish sauce, and garlic until sugar is dissolved, about 30 seconds. Set aside.
  • Remove lid and increase heat to high. Cook, uncovered, stirring constantly with a heat-resistant rubber spatula, until liquid has reduced and thickened to a sticky caramel consistency that fully glazes the potatoes, 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat, and transfer potatoes to serving bowl. Drizzle with sesame oil, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and serve.

KOREAN TORNADO POTATOES RECIPE BY TASTY

Korean Tornado Potatoes Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: grated parmesan cheese, korean red pepper, sugar, korean ramen seasoning, yukon gold potatoes, canola oil, salt, long wooden skewer

Provided by Kiano Moju

Categories     Sides

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

½ cup grated parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon korean red pepper
1 tablespoon sugar
1 packet korean ramen seasoning
4 yukon gold potatoes
canola oil, for frying
salt, to taste
long wooden skewer

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, Korean red pepper, sugar, and ramen seasoning.
  • Cut the potatoes into ribboned curls using the ribbon blade on a spiralizer. If you don't have a spiralizer, insert a skewer into each potato and, working in a spiral motion, cut in the opposite direction you are turning the skewered potato, making a thin, even spiral all the way down the potato. A spiralizer is recommended.
  • Gather the potato curls together, then wrap each curl around a wooden skewer, spacing out the potato evenly. Set aside to dry for 5 minutes.
  • Heat the canola oil in a deep pot until it reaches 350ºF (180ºC).
  • Fry the potatoes until golden brown, 3-5 minutes, then drain on a paper towel-lined baking sheet.
  • While the tornado potatoes are still hot, season with salt and sprinkle with the cheese mixture.
  • Enjoy!

It has wonderful delectable sausage, peppers, hoisin sauce flavors and the shinning star flavors of Simply Potatoes Steakhouse Seasoned Diced Potatoes takes this recipe to a new level of super delicious. Plus this recipe takes so little time to prepare and make.

Provided by bakingbrenda

Categories     Potato

Time 30m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (16 ounce) package ground pork sausage
4 medium serrano peppers, seeded and finely diced
1/2 cup hoisin sauce, divided
1 (20 ounce) package Simply Potatoes Steakhouse Seasoned Diced Potatoes
3 large eggs, beaten

Steps:

  • In a large 12-inch non-stick skillet over medium heat cook sausage and peppers until sausage is no longer pink in color and sausage and peppers are thoroughly cooked. Remove skillet from heat. Remove sausage and pepper mixture from skillet with a slotted spoon. Crumble cooked sausage into smaller pieces. Reserve sausage drippings in skillet; set aside.
  • Place cooked crumbled sausage and pepper mixture in a large bowl. Reserve 1/4 cup hoisin sauce for garnish; set aside. Toss remaining 1/4 cup hoisin sauce into sausage and pepper mixture until coated well. Add in package of seasoned diced potatoes and combine until just blended with sausage, pepper and sauce mixture.
  • Place sausage, pepper, sauce and potato mixture into sausage drippings evenly in bottom of large 12-inch skillet and over medium heat cook for 4 to 5 minutes, or until sausage, pepper and potato mixture is partially cooked, loosening edges and bottom when needed to prevent over browning. Turn partially cooked sausage, peppers, sauce and potato mixture onto other side in skillet and reduce heat to medium-low setting, carefully toss beaten eggs in to sausage, peppers, sauce and potato mixture until just blended. Cook an additional 4 to 5 minutes, or until sausage, pepper and potato pancake is cooked thoroughly, loosening edges and bottom if needed to prevent over browning. Remove from heat.
  • Assemble and serve Korean pancake. Cut Korean pancake into 4 large even wedges. Place one wedge each onto 4 individual serving plates. With reserved 1/4 cup hoisin sauce, drizzle an even tablespoon hoisin sauce over top each wedge serving. Serve warm.

  • Wash and peel the sweet potatoes. Then chop them into chunks, about 2-inches wide and ½-inch thick.
  • Using a medium-sized pot, heat 4 cups of canola oil (or enough to cover the potatoes) to 350°F. You will know if it’s hot enough by dipping the tip of a potato chunk in and it bubbles.
  • Once the oil is hot enough, carefully put the potato chunks in and deep-fry them for 12 minutes or until they become golden brown. Stir occasionally to prevent uneven browning.
  • When the potatoes are finished frying, place them on a tray lined with some paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
