Korean BBQ Beef image

Provided by Giada De Laurentiis

Categories     main-dish

Time 30m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/4 cup sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 bunch scallions, green part only
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
1 onion, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
1 pound thinly sliced rib-eye steak (you can find this at Korean markets)
1 small head green leaf lettuce, leaves separated

Steps:

  • Preheat a grill or grill pan to high.
  • Combine the sesame oil and salt in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Thinly slice the scallion greens into 3-inch-long julienne. Stir together the soy sauce and rice vinegar in a small bowl. Add the scallions, toss and set aside.
  • Lightly oil the grill and rub the grates with one of the onion rounds. Place the onions on the grill and grill until slightly charred and softened, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Move the onions off to the side to keep warm. Grill the rib-eye slices until browned and cooked to the desired doneness, about 2 minutes per side.
  • To eat, dip a piece or two of the rib-eye into the seasoned sesame oil and then place in a lettuce leaf along with some grilled onions. Top with some marinated scallions and consume like a taco.

KOREAN-STYLE BBQ BEEF RECIPE BY TASTY

Korean-style BBQ Beef Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: ribeye steak, onion, garlic cloves, pear, spring onions, brown sugar, black pepper, soy sauce, sesame oil, canola oil, sesame seed, cooked rice, Banchan (Korean side dishes)

Provided by Alvin Zhou

Categories     Dinner

Yield 2 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 ½ lb ribeye steak, or any other well-marbled, tender cut
1 onion, 1/2 roughly chopped and 1/2 thinly sliced
3 cloves garlic cloves
½ pear, peeled and roughly chopped
3 spring onions, 1 cut into pieces and 2 sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon black pepper
⅓ cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons sesame oil
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 teaspoon sesame seed, for serving
2 cups cooked rice, for serving
Banchan (Korean side dishes), for serving (optional)

Steps:

  • Slice the beef as thinly as you can, then set aside in a large bowl. Using frozen or cold beef will make the slicing easier.
  • In a blender or food processor, blend the onion chunks, garlic, pear, green onion pieces, brown sugar, pepper, soy sauce, and sesame oil until smooth.
  • Pour the marinade over the beef, add the thinly sliced onion, then mix to coat evenly. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes, or overnight.
  • Heat the canola oil in a large skillet over high heat. Pat the meat dry.
  • Being careful not to crowd the pan, sear the marinated beef and onions until browned. Sprinkle with the sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  • Serve with rice and side dishes.
  • Enjoy!

From diys.com
Estimated Reading Time 8 mins
  • Super simple marinade for beef and pork bulgogi. If you’ve never actually tried making bulgolgi before and you’re always a little hesitant the first time you make something new and unfamiliar, then it makes total sense that you’d want to stick to the basics and try something rather simple first.
  • Slow cooker Korean beef. Despite the fact that you are a foodie who loves to make your own foods from scratch, are you also still a busy enough person that your slow cooker frequently swoops in to save the day from another takeout meal or something with less flavour?
  • Bulgogi, or Korean BBQ beef. If you’re going to put in the time and effort it takes to make bulgolgi, would you actually much prefer to learn how it’s done in the entirely traditional way, just to make sure that you’re really getting the authentic experience and flavour?
  • Korean BBQ steak bowls with spicy sesame dressing. Once you’ve learned how to actually prepare the Korean BBQ beef itself, what do you do with it and how can you serve it as part of a full, nutritional meal?
  • Cheater Korean beef for beginners. As determined as you are to learn how to make authentic bulgolgi eventually, are you also a total beginner in the kitchen and still learning a thing or two about making your restaurant favourites from scratch?
  • Instapot Korean beef bowls. Did we actually really catch your attention when we started talking about this concept of making Korean BBQ beef bowls but you’re also tempted by the slow cooker recipe because you work a lot and you don’t have a whole lot of time each day to dedicate to cooking?
  • Korean beef skewers. Beef bowls are not, of course, the only way that you can prepare and serve your finished bulgolgi. In fact, despite our love for them and the frequency with which we’ve recently started making them, this next recipe from Simply Recipes might actually be our favourite one we’ve tried so far!
  • 30 minute Korean Beef peppers with sesame rice. If you’re still feeling totally intrigued by the idea of making a beef and rice dish but you’d like it to be slightly “fancier” than just the average bowl you might order at a walk-up counter, then we’re pretty certain that this next recipe from Halfbaked Harvest might be the one you’ve been holding out for.
  • Korean ground beef rice bowls. Just in case you’re still interested in finding slight and subtle ways to change the presentation of your Korean BBQ beef up, here’s another awesome alternative for your consideration, this time from The Recipe Critic!
  • Grilled beef galbi. Now that we’ve got you thinking about deliciously meat based Korean meals, are you actually feeling intrigued enough to start looking at similar but slightly alternative options offered along those same lines?
