LIMEADE ICY SMOOTHIE



Limeade Icy Smoothie image

When you think you can't drink another glass of water, this is a great way to get your fluids, without all the high-fructose corn syrup that's in so many supermarket drinks. The ginger makes this treat a fine stomach soother for days when you're queasy too.

1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 4-6 limes)
1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
2 tablespoons honey
10 ice cubes

Steps:

  • Juice the limes and strain out any seeds; pour the juice into the blender. Using the side of spoon, scrape away the skin from the ginger. Grate with a zester or the smallest holes of a box grater; add to blender. Add the honey and ice. Blend on high speed to mix. Taste and adjust the sweetness with an additional tablespoons of honey if you fruit is very tart. Garnish with fresh mint.
  • Makes 2 smoothies.
  • VARIATIONS:.
  • In place of the lime juice, substitute Meyer lemon juice, Key lime juice, or grapefruit juice. You can also try adding a splash of ginger ale or sparkling water for a little fizz.

1 (6 ounce) can frozen limeade concentrate
3/4 cup cold water
1 ripe banana, peeled
2 cups vanilla yogurt (regular or lowfat) or 2 cups vanilla frozen yogurt (regular or lowfat)
honey, to taste (optional)

Steps:

  • Using a blender, combine limeade concentrate, banana, and water until smooth.
  • Add yogurt and blend until smooth.
  • Serve immediately.

1/2 c flavorless sparkling water
10 whole frozen strawberries
1/4 c 3 tbsp orange juice
5 tbsp lime juice

  • 1. boil the water in a small sauce pan, when boiling add the sugar and mix until dissolved. let cool for 10 minutes. 2. in blender, add strawberries, orange juice, lime juice and simple syrup after the 10 minutes of cooling. blend until smooth and then add the sparkling water and blend again. 3. enjoy!

1 pkg. (0.3 oz.) JELL-O Lime Flavor Sugar Free Gelatin
ice cubes
1/2 cup cold water
1-1/2 cups thawed COOL WHIP FREE Whipped Topping

Steps:

  • Add boiling water to dry gelatin mix in blender; cover, venting lid. Blend on low speed 1 min. or until gelatin is completely dissolved.
  • Add enough ice to cold water to measure 1-1/2 cups. Add to blender with COOL WHIP; blend on medium speed until thickened and well blended.
  • Serve immediately.
