RUSSIAN LIVER CAKE RECIPE
Steps:
- Rinse the chicken liver under cold running water. Using a blender or grinder, blend the liver into tiny pieces. Add sour cream, egg, salt, pepper, and flour to the blended chicken liver. Pulse the mixture a couple of times to combine.
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat with a little bit of oil. Pour a thin crepe like layer of the liver mixture onto the skillet.
- Cook each side for a couple of minutes until golden brown. Set it aside to cool at room temperature.
- In a separate bowl, combine the pressed garlic, diced dill, and mayonnaise.
- Assemble the cake by alternating a liver crepe with a layer of the mayonnaise mixture. Repeat until you run out of crepes.
- Refrigerate the liver cake for at least an hour before serving. Slice and enjoy!

A great appetizer for New Year's Day and the Rose Bowl Parade. Serve with thinly sliced brown bread, rye crisp, crackers or chips.

Steps:
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, chicken livers, and sliced onion. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and cover. Simmer for about 20 minutes, or until liver is cooked and tender. Remove from heat, drain, and discard onions. Also remove and discard any hard portions of the liver.
- Place cooked livers in a blender or food processor, and process until smooth. Add chopped onion, sherry, butter or margarine, salt, black pepper, and mace; pulse to blend. With hands lightly greased, form pate mixture into a mound, and place on a serving platter. Chill for 1 hour before serving.

EASY LIVER BIRTHDAY CAKE OR TREATS FOR DOGS
Simple to make birthday cake for dogs. You can also cut the cake into small squares and give them as treats. Keeps for about 2 months if stored in the freezer in ziploc bag.

Steps:
- Liquefy chicken liver and egg in blender.
- Add liver mixture to remaining ingredients and mix well.
- Pour into lightly greased oven-safe pan/tray/dish and bake at 400F for 20 minutes.
- Let cool for about 5 minutes. Cut into desired shape(s) when still warm.
- For a pretty cake, I cut out two flower shapes and stack them on top of each other slightly staggered to give the illusion of layers of petals.

LIVER CAKE
A traditional Russian dish that even liver haters enjoy

Steps:
- Wash your liver and put it into a food processor
- Add 3 eggs, 3 table spoons of flour, 70ml of milk to the liver and turn the processor on, leave it until the mixture forms into a smooth quite liquidy paste.
- Heat your non stick pan. Add a little bit of oil and pour some of the liver mixture onto the pan so it forms a pancake. When the pancake starts changing colour flip it. (if it brakes add a bit more flour to the mixture). It should be enough dor about 7 pancakes, although it does depend on the size of the pan.
- When the pancakes are ready set them aside. Fry the onions till golden and add the carrots for 1 minute so they still stay crunchy. This is your filling.
- Now put mayonaise onto each liver pancake and some of your filling. Arrange it into a cake.
- The filling can be anything! Some people prefer mayonaise and cheese as filling. Or tomatoes, olives, even potatoes or pasta. You will have to find your family favourite. Enjoy :)
