Steps:
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
- Using stand mixer, cream together butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in egg and vanilla extract.
- Add flour in two batches, mixing just until combined.
- Divide dough into two, then shape each half into a ball. Flatten each ball into a disk about 1-inch thick, then cover with plastic wrap. Chill for at least 2 hours (or overnight). Place cookie stamps in refrigerator, too.
- Once dough has chilled, preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Add granulated sugar to a small bowl.
- Roll a piece of dough into a golf ball-sized ball, then roll in granulated sugar. Place on baking sheet.
- Dip cookie stamp into sugar, then press ball until dough reaches edges of stamp. Repeat with remaining dough.
- Once you have filled a baking sheet, freeze cookies for 10 minutes.
- Bake chilled cookies until golden brown on bottom, about 9 to 10 minutes.
- Let cookies cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a baking rack to cool completely before decorating. Enjoy!
- Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Add just enough milk to make a thin glaze (should be fairly runny).
- Dip cooled cookies in glaze, then brush off excess. Or brush glaze on cookies using a decorating brush. Place cookies on a parchment lined tray until glaze is set.

MILLIONAIRE SHORTBREAD COOKIES
Marc Murphy's shortbread cookies are made even more decadent with a layer of cookie butter and a dark chocolate topping. Finish each square with a sprinkle of salt.

Steps:
- For the shortbread layer: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Using a pastry brush, butter a 9-by-13-inch baking dish and coat with flour, tapping off excess.
- Put the flour, sugar and salt in a food processor and pulse. Add the butter and pulse until the dough just comes together. Press the shortbread mixture into the prepared pan and bake until golden brown around the edges, about 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
- For the cookie butter layer: In a 5-quart saucepan over moderately-low heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, cookie butter and salt. Slowly bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously. Continue stirring over the heat until the mixture becomes thick and amber in color, about 15 minutes. Pour the mixture over the cooked shortbread and spread evenly using an offset spatula. Cool to room temperature.
- For the chocolate topping: In a bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water, melt the chocolate with the oil. Once the chocolate has melted, pour it over the cooled caramel layer. Cool at room temperature for about 10 minutes, and then put in the refrigerator to cool completely, allowing the chocolate to slightly harden but not too hard. Cut into 2-inch pieces. Garnish with flaky salt before serving.
THE $250 COOKIE RECIPE
Almost everybody has heard the one about the woman lunching at the Neiman Marcus Cafe in Dallas, who enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies so much that she asked for the recipe. For "only two-fifty," the waitress said, it was hers. But when the credit card bill arrived, the woman found the total near $300. Turns out the recipe cost $250, the story goes. In 1997, after years of enduring the myth, Neiman Marcus came up with a recipe - and gave it out for free. It's a delicious variation on chocolate chip cookies, using ground oatmeal, nuts and adding extra chocolate with a grated Hershey bar (you can use any brand you love).
