Delicious, fresh tasting Martini. Great for those who like anything mixed with vodka and like the taste of pears :)

1/2 piece of canned pears in light syrup (1/4 of whole pear)
2 1/2 tablespoons light syrup, from canned pears
1/2 ounce simple syrup
1/2 lime, juice of
2 1/2 ounces vodka
pear, slice (garnish) (optional)

Steps:

  • muddle the pear, pear syrup and simple syrup in cocktail shaker.
  • Add other ingredients and shake with ice.
  • Strain into cocktail glass.
  • Thinly slice the pear, and hang on martini glass.

1 lemon, sliced into half moons
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
4 ounces pear-flavored vodka
1 ounce dry vermouth
1 ounce pear nectar
Pear slices and lemon twists, for garnish

Steps:

  • Combine the lemon slices, sugar and vanilla in a resealable container; cover and shake vigorously until the lemon slices are coated. Set aside, shaking occasionally, until the sugar dissolves, about 30 minutes. Smash the lemon slices with a fork to release the juices. Let sit 30 minutes, then refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Fill 2 martini glasses with ice and set aside. Shake the lemons again, then strain the juice into a liquid measuring cup. Combine the vodka, vermouth, pear nectar and 1 1/2 ounces of the lemon syrup in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and stir until cold. Discard the ice in the martini glasses and strain the drink into the chilled glasses. Garnish with pear slices and lemon twists.

I had a pear martini at a restaurant while visiting my brother over Thanksgiving. I've been trying to recreate it ever since I got home! This isn't it but it's my new go-to holiday libation. The ginger is my addition because I'd add ginger to almost anything. If you don't agree, sub vanilla vodka for the ginger liqueur and you'll have a yummy pear martini.

1/4 oz vanilla-infused simple syrup (see recipe below)
Mandarin blossom vodka, such as Hangar One or Absolut Mandarin
Ice
Finely ground fresh black pepper

Steps:

  • Dip the rim of a chilled cocktail glass in sugar and set aside. In a shaker, muddle pear slices with lemon juice. Fill with ice; add pear liqueur, vodka and simple syrup. Shake well and strain into the sugar-rimmed glass. Add a float of mandarin blossom vodka and a sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper. Vanilla-Infused Simple Syrup: 1 cup granulated sugar 1 cup water 1/2 fresh plump vanilla bean, split and scrape. Simple Syrup Preparation: Bring sugar and water to boil in small pot. Remove from heat and add the vanilla bean and seeds. Cover and let sit for 20 minutes. Strain and chill.

Steps:

  • For rosemary syrup:
  • Bring sugar and water to boil in small saucepan, stirring to dissolve sugar. Add rosemary sprigs. Reduce heat and simmer 2 minutes. Cool mixture completely. Discard rosemary.
  • For martini:
  • Mix rosemary syrup, vodka, lemon juice, and brandy in large pitcher. Cover pitcher with plastic wrap and place in freezer until mixture is cold, about 3 hours.
