A great meal idea for a party or picnic. I suggest using HALF the cream cheese so that it doesn't taste so cream cheesy. The wider the loaf of bread, the better!

1 (1 pound) loaf French bread
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
2 cups chopped cooked ham
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
½ cup chopped green onions
¼ cup chopped green chile peppers
2 small jalapeno peppers, chopped, or to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Cut the top off the bread loaf, keeping in one piece, and reserve for later use. Hollow out the loaf to form an area for the filling. Chop the removed bread for dipping.
  • Mix Cheddar cheese, ham, sour cream, cream cheese, green onions, green chile peppers, and jalapeno peppers in a bowl; spoon into the hollowed bread loaf. Return the top to the bread and wrap loaf with 2 pieces aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until filling is cooked through and bubbling, about 1 hour 20 minutes.

1 cup diced ham
2-oz cream cheese
1/2 cup cheddar cheese
1 green onion, chopped
1/4 tsp hot sauce
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
3 Tbsp sour cream
1 cup heavy cream
3 eggs
1 (9-inch) deep dish pie crust

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF. Heat ham in skillet for 3 to 5 minutes to remove moisture. Remove from heat. Combine ham, cream cheese, hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Put ham mixture in bottom of pie crust. Top with cheddar cheese and green onion. Whisk together eggs, sour cream and heavy cream. Pour over ham mixture. Bake for 60 minutes, until set.

1 boneless beef chuck roast (2.5 lb), trimmed of excess fat
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup Progresso™ beef flavored broth (from 32-oz carton)
1 envelope (1 oz) ranch salad dressing & seasoning mix
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup sliced pepperoncini peppers (bottled Italian peppers)
8 hoagie buns, toasted if desired

Steps:

  • Season both sides of chuck roast with salt and pepper. Sprinkle both sides with flour.
  • In 12-inch skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add chuck roast; cook about 5 minutes on each side or until brown.
  • In small bowl, beat broth and ranch dressing mix with whisk.
  • Spray 5-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Place chuck roast in slow cooker; pour ranch mixture over top. Add butter and pepperoncini. Cover; cook on High heat setting 4 hours or Low heat setting 8 hours or until beef is tender.
  • Shred beef with two forks and, using slotted spoon, divide among buns. Serve immediately.

This recipe has been a family favorite for years. It's easy to prepare and perfect for a busy schedule. I've also made this recipe with salmon - substituting two cans for the ground beef and adding 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice. It's great!

3/4 pound ground beef
1 unbaked pastry shell (9 inches)
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup chopped onion
4 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook the beef over medium heat until no longer pink. Meanwhile, line unpricked pastry shell with a double thickness of heavy-duty foil. Bake at 450° for 5 minutes. Remove foil; bake for 5 minutes more. Set aside. , Drain beef; place in a large bowl. Add the eggs, mayonnaise, milk, onion, cornstarch, salt, pepper and 1 cup cheese. Pour into crust. Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. , If necessary, cover the edges of crust with foil to prevent overbrowning. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Let stand 5-10 minutes before cutting.
