Ham loaf is slightly different from meatloaf, but you are going to love the taste of it just as much as you found yourself connected to meatloaf back in the day.

1 pound ground ham
½ pound fresh ground pork
2 eggs
½ cup milk
1 cup fine bread crumbs
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
2 Tablespoons prepared mustard
½ cup pineapple juice
½ cup brown sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a large bowl, combine the meats, eggs, milk, bread crumbs, and pepper.
  • Mix well and form into a loaf. Place loaf into a loaf pan.
  • Mix mustard, pineapple juice and brown sugar. Pour over loaf in pan.
  • Bake at 350° F for about 1 hour. Baste several times during baking.

Famous Western Pennsylvania Ham Loaf. Perfect way to use up left over smoked ham after Christmas or Easter. Be sure to serve it with a generous amount of sauce. We use a hand-held meat grinder that belonged to my husband's great-grandmother - doesn't take long and is somewhat nostalgic.

2 pounds ground smoked ham
2 pounds ground pork
2 cups crushed graham crackers
1 ½ cups evaporated milk
3 eggs, beaten
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup white vinegar
½ cup water
1 tablespoon ground dry mustard

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Line a large baking sheet or jellyroll pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix the smoked ham and ground pork together until thoroughly mixed, and lightly mix in the graham crackers, evaporated milk, and eggs. Form the mixture into two loaves, and place the loaves onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • In a saucepan over medium-low heat, whisk together the tomato soup, brown sugar, vinegar, water, and dry mustard until well combined. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring to dissolve the brown sugar. Pour about 1 cup of sauce over each ham loaf, reserving remaining sauce.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours. Slice and serve with reserved sauce.

2 pounds ground ham
1 ½ pounds ground pork
2 eggs
1 cup dried bread crumbs
1 cup evaporated milk
⅛ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon mustard powder
¼ cup cider vinegar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the ham, pork, eggs, bread crumbs, evaporated milk, salt and ground black pepper. Mix all together well and form into a loaf. Place loaf into a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 90 minutes.
  • While the loaf is baking, combine the brown sugar, mustard powder and vinegar. Mix well and pour over the loaf in the final 15 minutes of baking.

1 pound ground smoked ham
¾ pound ground pork
2 eggs
1 cup dry bread crumbs
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 teaspoon soy sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Mix ham, ground pork, eggs, and bread crumbs in a bowl. Mix in enough bread crumbs to make it all stick together. Put in a loaf pan and bake for about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours. Glaze the last 15 minutes of baking.
  • To make glaze: Mix brown sugar, mustard and soy sauce together in a bowl.

1 cup dry bread crumbs
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1-1/2 pound ground fully cooked ham
1/2 pound ground pork
GLAZE:
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
2 tablespoons water

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat the eggs; add milk, bread crumbs and pepper. Add ham and pork; mix well. In a shallow baking pan, shape meat mixture into an 8x4-in. oval. Insert a thermometer. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. , Meanwhile, combine glaze ingredients. Spoon over loaf. Bake 40 minutes longer or until the thermometer reads 170°, basting occasionally with glaze.
