No-Bake Chocolate Cornflake Treats image

The perfect treat for children during the summer vacation with only two ingredients! Easily prepared cornflake-chocolate snacks; roll up your sleeves, get in the kitchen, and in less than half an hour you'll also have these chocolate snacks. Yields 15 treats. READ MORE

Number Of Ingredients 2

5 and 1/4 ounces (150 grams) Elite Milk Chocolate or dark chocolate
1 and 1/2 cups (3.2 ounces, or 90 grams) cornflakes cereal (gluten free, if needed)

Steps:

  • Break the chocolate into squares and place in a bowl. Melt in a microwave oven or double boiler until everything is melted and the mixture is smooth.
  • Add cornflakes and mix until everything is coated with chocolate.
  • Using two teaspoons, put a mound of coated cornflakes inside a paper cupcake holder. Repeat until the mixture is used up.
  • Cool for about 10 minutes in the refrigerator for the chocolate to harden and serve.

I grew up on a farm where we hand-milked cows and had plenty of milk and cream to use for cooking. Sometimes we'd substitute light cream for the evaporated milk in this recipe. We'd rarely let these cookies cool before sampling them, and a batch never lasted a day! -Denise Marnell, Hereford, Texas

4 cups cornflakes
1-1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1-1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup butter
Dash salt

Steps:

  • Combine cornflakes, coconut and pecans; set aside. In a small heavy saucepan, combine remaining ingredients. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until a candy thermometer reads 240° (soft-ball stage). Add syrup mixture to dry ingredients; stir well. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let stand until set.

One tip: try to work fairly quickly after removing from heat because the mixture gets harder to work with as it cools. Having all the ingreds. pre-measured before starting makes this a lot easier. 1 cup light corn syrup
1 1/3 cups creamy peanut butter or 1 1/3 cups crunchy peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups corn flakes
raisins (Optional)
peanuts (Optional)
coconut (Optional)

Steps:

  • Heat sugar and corn syrup in large saucepan until mixture reaches a boil.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Mix in peanut butter and vanilla; combine well.
  • Stir in corn flakes and desired add-ins.
  • Shape into small mounds (about 1 inch) on waxed paper to cool.
