3 INGREDIENT DOG TREATS

3 Ingredient Dog Treats image

3 simple ingredients come together to make these simple dog treats

Provided by Lynn

Categories     Dog Treats Recipes

Time 2h7m

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 cups oatmeal (or a substitute grain)
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup soft fruit or vegetables (cooked apple, carrots, sweet potato, pumpkin or a banana)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 250°
  • If using oatmeal, place it in a food processor and blend until most of the oats are ground. I left some oats whole, but you can process it as much as you want. The cookies are easier to cut if most of the oats are processed.
  • If using another grain, combine the grain, peanut butter, and fruit or vegetable in a food processor and process until the dough comes together.
  • Roll dough 1/4" thick, using flour if the dough is sticky.
  • Cut out using a cookie cutter or cut into squares.
  • Place cookies on cookie sheets and bake at 250° for 2 hours until the dog treats are completely dry and crispy.
  • Once dog treats are fully dehydrated, they can be stored at room temperature. Mine sit out at room temperature for at least a month without getting moldy, but you do need to make sure to fully dehydrate them.

  • Scoop a heaping tablespoon of the peanut butter mixture into your hand and roll it into a ball. Push a slice of carrot into the middle of the ball and shape the dough into a patty around the carrot. (If you prefer smaller bites for your pup, cut the carrots in half or slice baby-cut carrots and portion a smaller amount of the dough around the carrot.) Repeat with the remaining ingredients. You should be able to make about 24 bites.

  • In a microwaveable bowl, add the peanut butter, coconut oil, cinnamon and turmeric and heat for 30 seconds-1 minute until slightly melted. You can also do this on the stove top by whisking it together in a small saucepan over low heat.
  • Whisk to combine, then using a ladle scoop it into the silicone molds to fill slightly over half way full. For biscuits this makes 5 or equivalent to 1 cup. Do not fill too high or it will spill over.
  • Transfer to a freezer keeping the silicon mold flat to harden evenly. Freezer for 25 minutes or until hardened. Once hard, transfer to a freezer bag and store in the freezer.
