1 - 14 ounce box Wheat Chex
1 - 12 ounce box Corn Chex
1 - 12 ounce box Rice Chex
1 -12 ounce box Cheerios (about 12 cups)
1 bag thin pretzels - the stick kind (about a pound)
2 cups nuts ((your choice: peanuts, cashews, etc.))
1 1/2 cups butter
½ cup light olive oil
½ cup Worcestershire Sauce
2 Tablespoons Liquid Smoke
2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons Lawry's Seasoned Salt

Steps:

Take out the extra rack in your oven if you have one, and put the remaining rack on the bottom or next to the bottom level. Preheat oven to 225°F | 110°C.
In a large paper grocery bag, mix cereals, pretzels and nuts together and set aside.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and oil together, and then blend in Worcestershire Sauce, Liquid Smoke, and hot sauce. Slowly pour over mixture in the bag, shaking as you do to cover everything. Sprinkle seasoned salt over everything, shut the top of the bag, and shake the heck out of it.

3 cups toasted corn cereal, such as Chex
1 1/2 cups bite-size pretzels
1 cup salted dry-roasted peanuts
2 garlic cloves
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt
5 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 cup fresh rosemary

Steps:

Preheat oven to 225 degrees. Combine toasted corn cereal, pretzels, and peanuts in a large bowl. Mince garlic and mash into a paste with salt. Stir together garlic paste, melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Pour over cereal mixture; toss to coat using a rubber spatula. Spread mixture evenly on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake, gently stirring every 20 minutes, until toasted, about 1 hour 20 minutes. Add rosemary. Bake for 20 minutes more. Let cool completely.

2 cups bite-sized Shredded Wheat
2 cups pretzel sticks
1-1/2 cups salted peanuts
1/4 cup butter, cubed
3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/2 teaspoon onion salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika

Steps:

Combine cereals, pretzels and nuts. In a small saucepan, melt butter; stir in seasonings. Pour over cereal mixture; toss to coat. Spread in an ungreased 15x10-in. rimmed pan. Bake at 250° 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Store in an airtight container.

2 lbs salted mixed nuts
1 (6 ounce) box Corn Chex
1 (6 ounce) box Wheat Chex
1 (6 ounce) box Rice Chex
1 (10 1/2 ounce) box Cheerios toasted oat cereal
1 (7 ounce) bag small pretzels
1 (5 3/4 ounce) bag slim pretzel sticks
1 (4 1/2 ounce) bag pretzel nuggets
2 cups vegetable oil (of your choice)
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon garlic salt
1 tablespoon Lawry's Seasoned Salt

Steps:

Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.
In a large roaster pan, mix salted nuts, Corn Chex, Rice Chex, Wheat Chex, Cheerios, pretzel twists, pretzel sticks, and pretzel bits; set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine oil, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, and season salt; mix till combined.
Spoon the seasoned oil mixture over the cereal/nut mixture until the cereal/nut mixture is evenly coated.
Bake for 2 hours stirring the cereal/nut mixture every 15 minutes.
Remove from oven.
Cool before storing cereal/nut mixture in an air-tight container.

I consider this to be the real original chex mix. My Mom was making this back in the 60's before "Chex Mix" was a thing, we called it "Nuts & Bolts" I have tweaked it slightly as I like it a little more savory...just a little more seasoning and Worcestershire sauce. This makes approx 34 cups of mix, I use a big aluminum turkey tray from Sams Club to make it.

1 1/2 cups butter
4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons johnnys seasoning salt
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt
4 cups pretzels
6 cups Cheerios toasted oat cereal
6 cups Rice Chex
6 cups Corn Chex
6 cups Wheat Chex
50 ounces mixed nuts

Steps:

Preheat oven to 250 deg F.
Melt butter in small pan and add Worcestershire sauce and seasonings to the melted butter.
Combine all cereal, nuts and pretzels in a large pan.
Pour 1/2 butter mixture over the cereal mixture and mix well, then pour the remaining butter mixture over the cereal and mix again.
Bake at 250 deg F for 1-1/2 hour stirring well every 15 minutes.
let cool for several hours or over night then bag in zip lock bags.

Divide the nuts, cereals and pretzels between two or three large baking pans. You’ll need high sided pans to allow for stirring the mixture while baking. Use three pans if needed and rotate the pans while baking.
Combine the butter, Worcestershire, celery salt, garlic salt and chili powder is a large, microwave safe bowl. Microwave on medium power for 2 minutes, then stir. Repeat until all the butter is melted. Mix well. Using a large spoon or ladle, drizzle the butter mixture over the cereal and nuts, stirring the butter mixture as you go to distribute all the spices that may settle in the bottom of the bowl.
Bake for 3 hours gently stirring every 15 minutes taking care not to crush the cereal. Use a large flat spatula if you have one, pulling up from the bottom of the pan to ensure all pieces are well coated in the butter mixture. Rotate the pans if needed.
