1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 large egg
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

In a bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture. Stir in 1/2 cup chocolate chips and walnuts. Spread into a greased 8-in. square microwave-safe dish. Sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 3-1/2 minutes or until bars test done, rotating a quarter turn every minute. Cool before cutting.

Steps:

Mix margarine and sugars in a large bowl.
Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.

1 cup butter, softened
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 pinch salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
¾ cup chopped pecans

Steps:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl, beat together the butter, vanilla and sugar until light and fluffy. Sift together the salt and flour and mix into the butter mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts. Mix until well blended. Press batter into a 15x10 inch jelly roll pan.
Bake 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cut into bars and let cool in pan on wire rack.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Sift flour and brown sugar into a bowl; stir in eggs. Mix butter into flour mixture until dough is creamy; fold in chocolate chips. Spoon dough onto a baking sheet, keeping them about 3 inches apart.
Bake in the preheated oven until slightly brown, 10 to 15 minutes. Cool.

From a Better Homes & Gardens booklet titled 20 Most-Requested Recipes - Cookies from 2006. These were definitely super easy to prepare and are pretty tasty too. I cut them into rounds with various sizes of biscuit cutters for a holiday cookie tray. Also easy to cut as the filling is fairly firm.

1 cup butter, softened (I used unsalted)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup semisweet chocolate piece
1/2 cup walnuts or 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

Preheat oven to 350°.
For CRUST, in large bowl, beat Butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add Sugar and Salt; beat until combined.
Add Flour; beat on low speed until combined. Press two-thirds of the crust mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
For FILLING, in medium saucepan, combine Sweetened Condensed Milk and Chocolate Chips. Cook and stir over low heat until chocolate is melted. Remove from heat; stir in Nuts and Vanilla.
Spread filling over unbaked crust. Sprinkle with remaining crust mixture.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
NOTE (as written in booklet): To cut professional-looking bars with nice even sides, let the baked mixture cool completely so the block has time to set up. For softer bars, refrigerate the baked block for a short time before cutting.
