Best Ever White Bread (Abm) image

This is a recipe I developed from lots of trial and error. I just kept experimenting with my bread maker. This same dough makes beautiful dinner rolls as well.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 1/3 cups milk
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
4 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
4 cups flour
1 tablespoon yeast

Steps:

  • Place ingredients in bread maker following your manufacturers guidelines.
  • Personally I only mix it up in the bread maker. When it is done proofing I turn it out onto a floured surface shape it and place it in a greased (cooking spray) loaf pan. Let rise for approx 1 hour, til doubled. I bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
2 ½ cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
½ cup nonfat dry milk powder
½ cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 tablespoon salt
8 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Add remaining water, dry milk, oil, sugar, salt, and 3 cups of flour; beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 3 minutes, or until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  • Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 6 to 8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease surface. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth. Let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Punch the dough down, and divide in half. Shape into loaves. Place in two greased 9 X 5 x 3 inch loaf pans. Grease the tops of the loaves, and cover with a damp cloth. Let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  • Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 35 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove bread from pans to cool on wire racks. Brush with melted butter or margarine.

2 tablespoons powdered milk

2 teaspoons instant yeast

Steps:

  • add ingredients to pan in order listed make a well in the flour and sprinkle yeast into it.
  • set machine to rapid or quick cycle.
  • press start on your machine.
  • we like to coat the bread once its done with butter or margerine to keep the crust from getting to hard. just a very light coat.
  • times vary for most bread machines mine make this in 1 hour and 40 minutes.

  • Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar into the bowl of stand mixer. Let stand for approx. 5 minutes until yeast begins to bloom (foamy, frothy).
  • Add 2 cups flour, kosher salt, and olive oil to bowl and mix on slow for 1 to 2 minutes until combined well.
  • Turn the mixer up a bit faster but slower than medium and gradually add more flour until bread begins to leave the sides of the bowl and pull together. The dough will appear shaggy at first but then will become smooth.
  • Turn the mixer to medium and beat for 10 minutes then transfer to a greased bowl and allow to rise until doubled. Depending on the warmth of your kitchen, this can take between 30 minutes to 1 hour.
