Crushed ramen noodles take the place of breadcrumbs in this fun take on a kid favorite. For dipping, combine pineapple preserves with teriyaki sauce for a perfect mix of sweet and spicy.

Heat 3 tablespoons peanut oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Spread the noodles in the pan and cook 6 to 8 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels. Top with scallions and/or cilantro.

1 (3 ounce) package ramen noodles (without flavor packet)
1 ½ tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon white sugar
½ teaspoon fish sauce
⅔ cup shredded napa cabbage
1 tablespoon butter
⅓ cup shredded carrots
1 clove garlic, minced
½ cup bean sprouts
2 teaspoons everything bagel seasoning
2 teaspoons furikake (seaweed and sesame rice seasoning)

Steps:

  • Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add ramen and cook for 1 minute, then use a fork to gently separate noodles. Reduce heat to a low boil and cook until noodles are just soft, about 3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • While ramen is cooking, mix soy sauce, sugar, and fish sauce together in a small bowl; set aside. Separate inner parts (cores) of the shredded napa cabbage from the outer parts (leaves).
  • Melt butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add carrots and cook for 1 1/2 minutes. Add shredded napa cores and garlic; cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Add shredded napa leaves and soy mixture; cook for 30 to 45 seconds. Add drained ramen and bean sprouts; cook until heated through, about 1 minute.
  • Transfer ramen mixture to a serving bowl. Add bagel seasoning and furikake; mix well.

This is an easy "white trash" recipe that I found in a local newspaper when I was in college. It's actually quite good, despite its ingredients and simplicity.

1 package ramen noodles (minus seasoning packet)
strawberry sauce (like you would get on an ice cream sundae)
1 bottle honey
1 dash cinnamon
1 dash sugar
whipped cream, from a can or Cool Whip, is best.

Steps:

  • Cook ramen according to package directions.
  • Drain.
  • Place noodles in fridge until chilled.
  • Remove from fridge and place on a plate.
  • Add as much honey as desired, use a squeeze bottle for this.
  • Sprinkle on some cinnamon and sugar.
  • Add a drizzling of strawberry sauce.
  • Top with copious amounts of whipped cream and one more drizzling of strawberry sauce for colour.
  • Enjoy!
