CHEESE CRISPIES



Cheese Crispies image

These are addictive! They can be made to anyone's taste by adjusting the amount of heat.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 pound shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups crisp rice cereal
½ teaspoon salt
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
1 pinch garlic powder
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, combine cheese, butter or margarine, flour, crispy rice cereal, salt, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. Mix well and form small balls out of the dough (the dough will yield approximately 55 balls). Flatten each ball of dough with your fingertips until the dough is very thin and arrange the discs on a cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 12 minutes; or until the Cheese Crispies are golden and slightly brown around the edges. Enjoy!

This is another of my Aunt Ruby's recipes. One of my absolute favorites !!! Just a note, originally the amount of cheese was incorrect. Instead of 1/2 cup it should have said 1 and 1/2 cups.

1 cup butter
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 1/2 cups grated extra-sharp cheddar cheese
2 cups plain flour
2 cups Rice Krispies

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°F.
  • Cream butter and cheese.
  • Add salt, pepper and flour to butter mixture.
  • Mixing briefly with a mixer.
  • Work in Rice Krispies either with the mixer or by hand.
  • Form into small balls(about the size of an olive), placing on a cookie sheet.
  • Flatten each ball with a fork (pressing the fork into the cookie, pulling across-- making little ridges).
  • Keep the fork clean by dipping in flour, if necessary.
  • Bake for about 20 minutes.

Steps:

  • Combine cheese with oil, add flour and Worcestershire sauce and Rice Krispies.
  • Form into small balls (size of a walnut) and place on grease cookie sheet.
  • Flatten each ball with a fork.
  • Bake 10 minutes in 350f oven.
  • Can be served hot or cold.

Searching for ways to use leftovers, I came across this little gem. This would be good wrapped in tortillas, with chips, or over rice!. Adapted from RazzleDazzel Recipes.

3 cups cooked turkey, cubed
1 cup jellied cranberry sauce
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon grated orange rind

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan on medium heat, combine cranberry sauce, barbecue sauce, allspice and orange rind, whisking to blend. Stir in cubed turkey. Heat and put in a serving dish.
  • Serves 6.

MY AUNT RUBY'S HOT ROLLS



My Aunt Ruby's Hot Rolls image

A delicious Hot Roll for any occasion. This was my Aunt Ruby's recipe and my family and friends really love the rolls.

Yield 25-30 Rolls

Number Of Ingredients 9

5 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup milk, hot
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, melted
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 cup mashed potatoes (we make up a cup of instant but if you have the real thing, they work just as good)
1.5 (1/4 ounce) packages dry yeast (proof it in the next ingredient)
1/4 cup water (warmed up but not too hot)
2 eggs, well beaten

Steps:

  • Combine milk, margarine, sugar, salt, potatoes, let cool and add yeast, then eggs. Add flour a cup at atime for easy mixing. Mix with hands or big heavy duty spoon till there are no lumps and the dough is pliable but not too flimsy. Cover the dough ball with oil (about a spoon full) like you would a pizza dough and let set 1 hour or until almost doubled in size. Knead for a few minutes, Sprinkle flour on your rolling out surface and roll out about ½ inch thick and cut with jar lid or biscuit cutter. Melt a little margarine and dab the tops lightly and let raise for about 3 hours. Bake at 350-375 for 16-20 minutes or until they are browned. You can also leave in the fridge overnight and roll out the next day.
